In a shocking and largely unprecedented move, New Mexico Gov. Michell Lujan Grisham "suspended" gun rights on Friday, citing an emergency declaration for "gun violence" she had signed the day prior.
The move immediately overrode duly passed open and concealed carry laws in Albuquerque, the state's largest city. According to Grisham, she will review the order every 30 days and make a decision on extending it. Under the order, other cities within New Mexico could also see their gun rights stripped depending on their levels of violent crime.
When pressed on the legality of the situation, Grisham responded by saying that her oath to the Constitution is "not absolute."

It isn’t as if nobody saw this coming. Ever since they first talked the CDC into treating “gun violence” as a public health issue this was exactly what they had in mind. It isn’t, incidentally, about guns. There is nothing guaranteed as a civil right that cannot be overruled by the mere declaration of a public emergency. The dictatorial Left has discovered a way to deny life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness in one coup if they’re allowed. Only widespread civil disobedience can address this abuse, which is why the J6 persecutions function as a terror campaign - disobey and you face prison time, a lot of it, and only if you live long enough to get there.
They only care about the guns in the hands of law-abiding white people.
Hoodrats can have all the guns they want.
Besides the 2a implications, these emergency declaration are more frequent for non-emergencies and impact rights more broadly. Personally, I don’t look to government for help. I don’t expect. I don’t want it. I don’t want to pay for it. I can take care of my own. There shouldn’t be emergency declarations unless in very dire situations. Some trigger mechanism should be established, like Congress declaring war with an armed invasion of the homeland. Everything else, well just live with it. Use some common sense or receive a Darwin Award. I really don’t care.
But homeless people sleeping and crapping on the streets of Albuquerque not a public health emergency?
She has no right to do any of this.
At what point do people get off their ass. And why would an American cop not tell her to enforce it herself?
In that case, I have suspended Michell Lujan Grisham from living in the United States.
“Largely” unprecedented. What does that mean
= = =
It’s like ‘mostly’ peaceful protest.
Why would they get off their asses? New Mexico voted for the bitch. What did they think would happen?
New Mexico is just that! A new Mexico... Has been for a long time...
La La Land of the border...
Now that the Demoncrats are successfully destroying the Middle Class their next move will be to disarm law abiding citizens and then the final move will be “Hello Totalitarian Government”.
Sheriefs in those areas won’t obey.
Deprivation of rights under the color of law.
And...AND...she essentially renounced her oath of office.
Governor is personally liable here.
Sue her britches off.
...accidentally awful visual.
She should'a mentioned that at her swearing in.
I agree with all you wrote but would like to up the ante.
I warned long ago that Trump using the executive branch to legislate, and ban bump stocks, would bite us in the ass someday.
And it has. Biden is trying to ban private sales online and at gun shows, really the only places where you can shop for a new firearm without already knowing someone owns something.
"I will not comply with unconstitutional edicts."
Guaranteed, she won’t be impeached, recalled, or have anything else happen as a result of her totally illegal edit. People are just going to have to ignore it and steel themselves because it’s only going to get worse.
Replace democrat party with communist party.
Residents have long learned to ignore the little tejano dwarfs bolshevik droolings.
Come on, it’s only for a few weeks to flatten the curve./s
That’s how communism does it. I’m sure a history buff what have the details.
