Kilauea, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, began erupting Sunday after a two-month pause, displaying glowing lava that is a safe distance from people and structures in a national park on the Big Island.

At least they’ve had plenty of practice for this.
It’s no big deal.
I know it’s not a big deal, it seems to happen a lot. But, for the Pacific Islands geographically challenged, such as myself, it’s a little blurb to head off the “Oh Noes, not another disaster on that poor island” pearl clutching.
“...suss wildfire...”
-
What is a suss wildfire?
Suspicios. Sorry, added an unneeded "s". I'm not questioning the fire itself, I'm questioning the reaction to it.
It’s global warming. Everything is global warming. Globalglobalglobal! Bwahahaha!
and Charles is covering it from home. He has a live cam set up at the edge of the caldera.
It's an impressive sight.
When we visited Hawaii in January, Mt. Kilauea was erupting and we had just missed the Mt. Mauna Loa eruption in December. You can go to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and view the Kilauea eruption. A park ranger told us to visit at night for a better view. We parked near the visitor center and followed the signs to an eruption viewing area.
Smoke poured out of the ground at several places throughout the caldera. Lava bubbled and spewed several feet high. When it got dark, glowing lines of lava could be seen all over the caldera. The viewing area was located a safe distance from the eruption. The juxtaposition of lush vegetation at the viewing area and the burnt, smoking, glowing caldera was surreal. The volcano at night was a breathtaking sight.
It blew because we were supposed to sacrifice a democrat virgin into it...couldn’t find any.
Looks like the Halema‘uma‘u crater again. Very large crater that would take a colossal eruption to even fill the entire crater floor.
Also, the article calls Kilauea “Hawaii’s second-largest volcano”. IINM, it’s the island’s second-largest currently active volcano; Mauna Kea is larger.
Hawaii management team is on it, they have a list of platitudes and humanitarian slogans to address the coming disaster
Uh oh, I guess it's time for Sleepy Joe to hit the beach again...
Hopefully they’re all, including HVO, handling it better, if there’s anything to handle, than they did in 2018.
Thanks for the link!
BTW, if anyone wants to see what they missed, you can go back a few hours on the feed.
I was watching Iceland last night.

Gotta be climate change.
The cascading origin of the 2018 Kīlauea eruption and implications for future forecasting
Pay particular attention to the part on lessons learned toward the end...
