Events of recent years have emphasized the health imperative of ensuring the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens, especially our children. Every child deserves a chance to grow, learn and thrive, unburdened by the shackles of hunger. This is a call to action — a plea to Congress to safeguard the future by protecting and strengthening the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
SNAP has long been a lifeline for millions of American families struggling to make ends meet. It helps countless parents supplement their household budgets. This, in turn, helps disrupt the cycle of poverty. By providing families with the supplemental means to put nutritious food on the table, SNAP contributes directly to the health and development of our nation’s youth.

Christy and Eugene are right out of the soviet union. What a cringe article
Cast it as a way to combat Russian aggression and support would be bipartisan.
Abolish SNAP. And TANF. And WIC. And AFDC. And Section 8.
Feed your own damn children.

Oh ... yeah ... Deport illegal aliens. All of them.
Half the country is obese
I don’t think access to food is a problem

Our uninvited guests from south of the border are prone to weight gain on the diet of modern America. Gonna be a lotta rotund little kids, needing joint replacements by 40.
How about killing all these programs and make parents responsible for there kids.
It’s funny but my folks fed all five of their kids and my wife and I fed our three kids all without SNAP or EBT cards.
Every dollar the government hands out to others was (or will be) taken under the threat of punishment from a taxpayer
1. - End 2nd, 3d and 4th generation welfare dynasties
2. - Put able bodied parents to work
3. - Get able bodied homeless off government handouts
4. - Cut all government handouts to illegals
5. - End retirement plans for elected officials - they have Social Security like everyone else. If they want a retirement program they should get a real job.
Contrary to the way democrats (and RINOs) treat taxpayers - America’s treasury isn’t supposed to be used as the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
Because baby daddies run away from their ill gotten sperm rejects!
If a kid gets free breakfast lunch and after school snack deduct that from SNAP paid to parent
It's already here. And not just the kids.
Adult wide-body mega-butts, flabby bellies and turkey legs prevail on the streets in the Spanish speaking town and city areas (Spanish Harlems) taken over by the brown invaders.
It's not like in the movies!
The scam in my area seems to be shady middle eastern convenience stores ring up fake food purchases for the full amount of the SNAP benefits, then give the recipient the value in cash at 50-70 cents on the dollar (then, of course, get fully reimbursed by the government so they make a 30-50% profit). The recipients use the cash to buy their drugs or whatever. On the days the benefits are deposited on the SNAP cards you can literally see a line going out the door at the local convenience store.
Frankenfood-unfit for human consumption-no wonder the kids are obese-and they are not hungry. If the authors of this boo hoo article really want to do something useful, make parents responsible for their own kids-not anyone else-and if a few of them really qualify for SNAP, make it short term and it only pays for REAL, fresh food with nutritional value that actually has to be cooked-there is no reason for any kid to be hungry in the US...
How about you pay for your own kids and I’ll pay for mine. And you quit using the gov to steal that money from me at gunpoint, for you to use on your kids? Sound like a deal?
Sorry, that's not serious.
In early 2009, Michelle Obama announced that her first goal as First Lady would be to end child obesity!
