Scarborough says every Democrat he talks to privately says Biden is too old to run

MSNBC pundit Joe Scarborough said Wednesday that every Democrat he has spoken to privately believes President Biden is “too old” to run for reelection next year.

During an appearance on “Morning Joe,” Washington Post columnist David Ignatius spoke to Scarborough and co-host Mika Brzezinski about his new piece calling on Biden and Vice President Harris to halt their plans to run in 2024.

“I think it comes down to what we were talking about earlier — is Joe Biden the person who can stop Donald Trump or somebody like Trump who gets the Republican nomination?” Ignatius said. “That’s what he’s got to — he’s got to look in the mirror, search his soul and make that decision. And I wanted to raise that question. I’d like him to think that through carefully because I have my concerns.”

If this is true, it is a tantamount admission that he is too old to govern, which I assume takes at least as much intelligence and energy as running for the office.

Frankly I am not happy with the development.

The Dims are not going to make the general election race about Biden’s policy. And they know it will be very easy to make Biden personally an easy and legitimate target for the GOP. To avois that they will remove the card board cut out of Biden, replace it with a younger moer intelligent face and run their election campaign totally as a campaign against Trump, period with the narrative it is to “save our democracy”. In that, having jetisone the most negative figure they have, Biden, they will campaign on the most negative image (in their minds) that they have created (in their view) - Trump.

Trump and the whole GOP needs to jettison the trope that they are simply anti-Biden and start focusing 24/7/365 on policies. They need to tag the whole Democratic party as co-owners of all the bad policies they got the puppet Biden to adopt.

Biden was too old to run in the 2020 election. And, it’s not because of the number involved with his age. People can be mentally capable even into their 90s, but Biden’s brain had become incapable of thinking straight and/or making decisions, a long time ago.

The democrats may intend to get with McConnell and McCarthy and cut a deal; call off the impeachment and Biden won’t run.

“MSNBC pundit Joe Scarborough said Wednesday that every Democrat he has spoken to privately believes President Biden is “too old” to run for reelection next year.”

No. What that means is what they really told him is that Biden is too senile.

And here comes Newsom.

Pretty soon it will be “misinformation” to point out what a mess California is, that Newsom is the Governor of California, etc.

Oh no, Newsom will continue putting on his “moderating” makeup to mask himself. And the GOP will let him do it.

California, what’s that? Where is that? I hear its a paradise.

I have a theory that Biden was not supposed to win in 2020. The Democrats had all their younger candidates drop out of the race and endorse that crooked retardate because they expected him to get his ass kicked — just like Mondale in 1984, Dole in 1996, and McCain in 2008.

The COVID fiasco — which erupted on a national scale right after the Super Tuesday primaries — threw the whole campaign into complete chaos.

Not too old, too affected by dementia. The man Brandon stole the office from is just about as old but more than capable of handling the position. Age doesn’t affect everyone the same way.

And how is Newsom going to get in front of Harris? It’s HER turn after all, and given how wedded the Democratic Party is to black women, i’m not sure how he gets around that. Will be awful fun to watch though!!

Trump and the whole GOP needs to jettison the trope that they are simply anti-Biden and start focusing 24/7/365 on policies.

That is a virtuous and intelligent thought.

I am sorry to say that I do not agree with it.

Emotional appeals work on voters. Intellectual appeals do not.

Most voters do not care about policy statements. They care about who is making the statement. True of "our side" just as much as "their side".

I like to imagine myself as an open-minded, rational thinker, making considered judgements after careful and thorough observations about every topic.

Hoo, boy! Does that image fall apart under real-world conditions or what? So, I am ready to cut other voters a break on their "flawed and wrong opinions". The corollary is that it is not effective to present "facts" to people in order to get them to do something I might want them to do.

And it certainly not effective to argue with people.

Focusing on policies can only work if the presentation contains an emotional hook with the offer. A wonderful benefit delivered by the proposal, and a nasty criticism of Joe Biden and the gang of Democrats who are preventing us from delivering that wonderful benefit.

It is an ugly way to campaign, and it works almost every time. It is one of the things the Democrats do very well, and we must learn from their successes.
