It would be amusing to see the city owned stores robbed blind. Tax payers would be on the hook for it, but I’d still like to see the business clueless city officials try to deal with what legitimate business owners have to suffer with.

Using that same logic, one could legitimize any expropriation of the "haves" by / for the benefit of the "have-nots."
And, of course, govt. officials will be standing there, acting as the "middlemen," and seeing to it that everything is distributed "fairly."

I can’t wait to see them treat retail the same way they approach governing. Raise the prices (taxes) to increase revenue, or reduce prices (taxes) to increase sales.
