Federal employees don’t get anywhere near 40% pay hikes even if they get promoted to the next highest grade.
This is how big business and their partners in government have pretended to be advocates for the working class all these years while they’ve gradually de-industrialized the country and moved production offshore.
It’s done slowly so the public doesn’t recognize the long term game plan and only focus on what superficially looks like a victory. They offer generous wage concessions to the current work force while simultaneously moving production offshore.
While their work force comes away happy over what may be a good deal for them personally, they’ve wittingly or unwittingly contributed to the downsizing and the reduced hiring that follows. Rather than investing in domestic infrastructure, expanding capacity and increasing domestic production, these companies simply allow their domestic production to gradually wither on the vine, while they buy off their current labor force’s cooperation with generous compensation. We’re talking managed decline, and it’s done so slowly that most people don’t notice it.
Did some contract work for an engineering automation company and installed a new robotics assembly line at a GM plant a few years ago. We couldn’t even plug in a 120 volt AC cord. The union steward had to do it. Absolutely nuts.
As usual Pedo Joe thinks that UNIONS are the future.
That’s how stupid he is. Unions ARE THE PAST.
