Earlier this week, the mystery surrounding the origins of SARS-CoV-2 took another bewildering turn when the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic revealed that a “multi-decade, senior-level, current [CIA] officer” stepped forward to claim that when six of the seven specialists tasked by the CIA with investigating the origins of the virus concluded with low confidence that it likely came from a lab in Wuhan, the CIA paid those scientists hush money to reverse their decision. The six experts who were offered “financial incentives”—otherwise known as bribes—eventually concluded that the origin of the pandemic was uncertain. For its part, the CIA has denied the whistleblower’s claims. This denial was issued by CIA spokesperson Tammy Kupperman Thorp who, until just two years ago, worked as a journalist for CNN and NBC News covering, among other things, the CIA.
Despite intense investigations for the past three years, the origins of the worst pandemic in generations remain, to this day, unknown. What is certain, however, is that a massive official cover-up took place. There is proof that Anthony Fauci knowingly deceived the public, that academic scientists and once-prestigious science journals colluded with him in that deception, and that scientists investigating the virus at the Defense Intelligence Agency’s National Center for Medical Intelligence were censored when they concluded it most likely came from a laboratory. Now there appears to be evidence that the CIA was involved as well.

This is a good article on Covid, it's origins and funding, and the organized cover-up of those origins.
Yes, we funded it as a covert op to see what they were doing, to get information. We most likely did not know the virus would be released IMHO and thus we now have HUGE egg on our face and blood on our hands. Our corrupt government believes we should not know the truth because they feel it will open up a pandora’s box where we demand more info on covert ops and more control, They will never let that happen.

I don't think that's quite right. There are, no doubt, some within the U.S. intelligence community who like to tell themselves that that's what they're doing when they engage in these dangerous shenanigans, but, no, their ultimate motivations are not that altruistic. This full article gets closest to the truth than anything else I've seen. It doesn't support the "counter-intelligence" angle. That wasn't what the SARS-COV-2 "gain of function" thing was about. Not at all. Not at the end of the day.
Until people understand that the American government -- call it the "deep state," if you'd like; it doesn't matter how you label it -- doesn't give a shit about them, that it doesn't have the "best interests of the American people at heart," they will never, ever understand what's really going on.
But, you know, just vote harder next time. Maybe we'll finally get lucky.
I agree, our government lost its way, it's too big, it's too corrupt, it does not serve the American people.
The truth is that our government wants to continue to weaponize viruses, but we don’t want to be seen as doing that, since it would violate international law. For a while we were engaging in the research surreptitiously by claiming it was “dual use” research and we were only interested in the preventive, medical side of the research, but the rules were changed and we couldn’t keep doing it even using that charade anymore.
So instead we let the Chinese do it for us, while partnered with US academics, since they do not care about violating international law. We could still reap the benefits of the research but the price we paid was also giving those benefits to our enemy, and giving them control of the actual viruses, which seems to have been a huge mistake.
I think it is the flu, or perhaps a nasty cousin. Most of the deaths were from cramming sick people into nursing homes filled with weak and often sick elderly people. Most if not all of the fear porn was from the media. (This includes the ubiquitous Fauci/scarf lady daily reports and CNN death ticker). It was a rough flu season spun into a worldwide pandemic to thwart the American election.
I held that thought until I read that we realized that many countries have bio-weapons using GOF (Gain of Function). So many admitted it that it was determined the law had no effect any longer.

Then it wasn’t a very good one. It only actually killed a relative few. The actual weapon was the media induced fear that allowed them to lock us down, make many line up for untested drugs, etc.
