Following the embarrassment that was the 2022 election, in which Republicans managed to severely underperform despite having all the fundamentals in their favor, I asked one simple question: Are you tired of losing yet?

Ironically, some accused me of being too conservative when I predicted the GOP only getting to 235 seats in the House. Now, the Republican Party might end up with a majority far less than that. The Senate is pretty much a wasteland as well, with Mehmet Oz, despite a strong push down the stretch, not being able to overcome his unfavorables in Pennsylvania. Don Bolduc got trounced in New Hampshire, Georgia is headed to a runoff, and Masters is an underdog as counting continues in Arizona.
Far from the optimism of suggesting that 54 senate seats were on the table, my “low” prediction of winning 51 seats would actually be a minor miracle for Republicans now. I whiffed, not because I was too conservative, but because I was too bullish. That’s an outcome that seemed improbable just a day ago.
What happened on Tuesday can’t be left to lie. There has to be a reckoning, and it’s going to be uncomfortable and challenge some deeply-held priors. Republicans can’t keep running the same play over and over, hoping that the next time things will be different. No one should escape accountability.
And you know what? For a brief moment, it did feel like Republicans were tired of losing.

The GOP challenger was James Guzofski, ....lost by 12 points in a district that current Republican Gov. Chris Sununu won by 22 points. In other words, this wasn't some long-shot blue district. This was a district the GOP was supposed to easily compete in, if not be favored to win outright.

Anyone who actually believes our side is lookin’ good for 2024 is in for a rude awakening. 2024 is going to make 2020 and 2022 look like legitimate, fair and honest elections.
This is Sununu’s New Hampshire. Republicans have been losing consistently there since he’s been in office.
And who is he buddy buddy with? The likes of Chris Christie, who is just Jeb Bush in a size 58 pant.
The article doesn’t explain what the GOP did wrong in this special-election.
The author mentioned one line about the candidate who was a paster and made a comment about prophets and Trump, and otherwise, something about not enough debate.
He’s clearly upset, but he has not explained his position
Then, somewhere in the middle, is Tall Bush (aka Charlie Baker) who was the controlled opposition in MA, until no longer useful - now replaced by the leftist loon, Healey.
let’s send this district a few busloads of ‘migrants’....
Open Primaries could be the issue.
The Republican party- A political party that is terrible at politics.
The author of the article doesn’t explain why except people want change? I think the pro aborts are out in force in the republican and democrat parties both. and republicans will not win national elections here on out.
Maybe the candidate sucked.
Exactly right. He wrote “I may not be that smart, but I’m capable of learning from past mistakes” but never explains what mistakes were made or how to correct them.
Agreed... what’s the point of it? If this guy’s so smart, tell us what the candidate did wrong?
Griswold3, is THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX. He has got the right idea. SEND them some Immigrants, they’ll get the message and change. Instead of buying campaign ads on TV and Newspapers, start buying bus tickets. Greyhound will love you and we will WIN in the next election.
What’s harder to sell, two tickets for a weekend at the next Liberace impersonators conference in Toledo Ohio, or the Republican message, whatever the hell that is.
I know what you mean. The GOOBers don’t seem to be interested in 2024.
Empty article. It doesn’t state how the Republicans can capitalize on favorable political environments except a mention of changing leadership . . . to whom?
One problem is that any Republican worth having risks having his life ruined by not only the Democrats (to be expected), and their allies to mass media (named sources for smears no longer required), but now the entire Department of Justice, too. Good candidates may not want to risk their lives, their reputations, their marriages, their children, their freedom for that. So you get candidates like the pastor mentioned.
OZ was the worst candidate I have ever seen to run for Statewide Office as a Republican in PA... Barnett should have been the nominee, but, no, GOP establishment attacked her harder then they have attacked any Democrat in my lifetime and scared the pleebs back onto the establishment plantation
To make matters worse they spent well over 100,000,000 to try to push that TURD, money that could have been used to win other races, cost countless house seats in the process as well.
It is not 1990, 2000 or even 2012... The world has changed, if the GOP thinks they can run establishment/RINO/GLobalists or democrat lights and win they are delusional the age of the “country club republican” is over...
People are no longer going to pull the lever en masse for some wishy washy offend no one, stand for nothing, but provide lip service and nothing else to them.
James Guzofski, the candidate that lost, ran as a MAGA Trump candidate, just like in 2022, Don Bolduc, Bob Burns, and Karoline Leavitt all ran in New Hampshire as Trump MAGA Candidates and all lost. The article points out that MAGA can win primaries but more times than not, lose the general election.

New Hampshire is now blue. So much for Live Free or Die.
Being a NH voter who works the elections, first thing to look at is voter turnout.
Typical GOP there thinks having yard signs and getting the right political endorsements are enough.
While the dems make every issue an existential threat to ‘democracy’ - not to mention same-day-registrations, and bussing in cohorts from MA and VT if/when necessary.
But still, evidence shows that SHOWING UP even when presidential candidates are not on the ballot can win elections there. And that’s the GOP’s biggest problem.
