Withdrawing support for Ukraine based on the belief that the war is akin to Vietnam is not supported by history.
*snip*
President Dwight D. Eisenhower sent a small number of advisers to Vietnam in the late 1950s and early 1960s. President John F. Kennedy, during his 1,000 days in office, increased the number of American advisers from a few hundred to over 16,000 before his death on Nov. 22, 1963. Kennedy’s advisers were integrated into South Vietnamese military units and engaged in actual combat.
The year 1961 saw 16 American soldiers killed in Vietnam, the next year saw 53, and 1963 saw 122, ostensibly in a mere “advisory” role. By the end of 1964, the United States was — through its new president, Lyndon B. Johnson, and the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution — much more fully and legally involved in the war, which saw 216 American service members killed in Vietnam that year and over 10,000 dead each year from 1967–1969. The Vietnamese civil war gradually became an American conflict, but that happened through definitive steps. Unlike Vietnam, the War in Ukraine Has Not Cost American Lives
These same definitive steps have not been seen in American involvement in the defense of Ukraine. Not one active-duty American service member has been killed in Ukraine, let alone while operating in an integrated role near the front lines of the conventional fight. Zero.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia is neither a civil war nor a classic unconventional war — two of the worst types of conflicts for Western powers to get involved with. Instead, Ukraine is a more conventional and electronic war than Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan (which had both American and Russian involvement), or the very successful British intervention in the Malayan Emergency.

There is American involvement.
TANKS.
Unless we turn around and stop them.
I think we should.
When the Ukrainians dont have any fighting age males left to soak up Russian artillery , what does the US do?
Oh, and longer range missiles.
Stop those as well.
No, because this civil war could result in nuclear annihilation. We have ZERO business being involved in it.
Sit down. Have a truce. Put in a line just as happened in Korea. And stop this useless killing and Ukraine’s ethnic cleansing which has been going on since the USA supported the coup and Poroshenko came to power. His reign was pure ethnic cleansing. He was a monster.
Like the Russian speaking population can speak out...
I don’t care what war you compare it to. It’s a waste of money, helping these two commie countries fight each other. STOP sending our money and let them just kill each other off. We wasted enough of the American peoples money and it’s time to use that money here at home. Like securing the f@cking boarder .
There are US special forces currently operating in Ukraine. In fact, Americans wounded in Ukraine are being treated in Germany.
You didn’t really think it was Ukrainians killing all those Russian Generals and making all those deep strikes did you?
The US will find a way to introduce NATO troops on the ground. The secrets that are wrapped up in Ukraine are dark and deep. There is so much more than the now visible perversion/corruption. The Ukraine project goes to the heart of the liberal World Order that Demented Joe mentioned. Kids, slavery, bioweapons and racial/ethnic purity. When we learn what that entails, it will shock Americans, but not the Ukie cheerleaders on this forum. They're part of it.

Nice talking with you. I am far, far out of things. My opinion is just formed by watching from a long way away. Lots of countries have joined NATO. I personally just think it is time to stop fighting. Permanently, or just for now. But just stop. I am through. Just my view. Now I will be quiet again. Best regards
I thought that you had realized that you were out of your depth here, and that you didn't have any coherent argument to present ("My gut feeling is..." or "I just think we should..." are NOT logical arguments).
Yes, we are arming a peaceful, sovereign nation so that it can defend itself against an aggressive invader which would otherwise outmatch it. (An aggressive invader which, incidentally, is no friend of the West.)
North Korea and Red China are arming Russia. What moral argument are you prepared to present as to why shouldn't we be able to arm the nation the other side? So that it can defend itself?
Regards,
Yeah I suppose, I don’t know about that (and don’t want to, frankly)
But us sending US tanks, and US missiles, seems unwise.
Really.
The fact that he had to deny the comparison speaks volumes.
Stop spreading that vile canard! It has been well established that no active U.S. personnel have been wounded in Ukraine. Those are, at most, volunteers / mercenaries.

"Concern Troll" is concerned!
And wants us all to crawl back under the covers.
Regards,
Why is it important for us not to have US troops in the fight, but introduce US weapons to escalate?
They both seem unwise.
Missiles are not defensive...That’s what we agreed to originally.
Because:
1. U.S. troops are unnecessary. Ukraine can hold its own against Russia, as long as it is able to access matériel. (Russia is importing weapons from N. Korea and China - so I don't see why you insist on tying our hands in aiding Ukraine.)
2. Umm... Is your question sincere? Really?! Then how do I say this without offending? Having U.S. troops in combat rôles on Ukrainian soil would expose them to... risk. Unnecessarily (see pt. 1 above). Realpolitik. I should think that that would have been obvious.
