The Biden administration quietly issued a 59-page report outlining the current scope of federal energy-related subsidies revealed that the renewable energy sector enjoys significantly larger taxpayer backing than the fossil fuel industry.

The report — authored by the Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration (EIA) and published in August — represents the first of its kind since 2018. The EIA analyzed data from 2016 through 2022, and determined that, during that time period, the federal government doled out $183.3 billion in direct and mainly indirect taxpayer subsidies, more than half of which came over the last three years.

"For years Democrats have claimed technologies like solar energy are cheaper than coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear. This report makes clear that solar is largely dependent on heavy subsidies with taxpayer dollars," Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Ranking Member John Barrasso, R-Wyo.,

Solar should be competing for sales in the marketplace, not for subsidies in Washington."

According to the EIA report, while renewable energy sources like wind and solar power account for about 21% of domestic electricity production, such sources received a staggering $83.8 billion in subsidies, by far the largest share compared to any other category.

...

solar industry generated about 0.6 quadrillion British thermal units, less than 1% of total energy produced economy wide in the U.S., but received $7.5 billion in subsidies. That means the solar power industry received $11.9 per MMBtu generated last year..

The results are as pronounced when comparing coal power which received $873 million in subsidies last year while generating 18 times the amount of power as solar energy.

Green energy is an oxymoron
Lithium is very dangerous, and takes lots of fossil fuel energy to mine.
Windmills kill birds and whales, and the blades are landfill
Solar panels take fossil fuels and make non-degradable waste.

The ‘cleanest’ energy is nuclear.

Democrats love things who their donors own, like Solar=China. Windmills=liberals. Lithium mining=China.

Hey Biden!

When can I fill my car up with the cheaper, more efficient “green energy” you promised?

Gas in So Cal is over $6.00/gallon, in some places $7.00/gallon - with no end in sight.

Oh, that’s right: You don’t care. The gas for your limo, helicopter and jet is paid for by taxpayers - and you are a multi-millionaire b/c of your son’s “business deals” with China and Ukraine.

Just look at what happened when Texas relied on wind and solar. Both are viable alternatives if you don’t have access to the grid but plugging them into the grid is as stupid as putting your food in your gas tank (ethanol). Wind and solar are simply not reliable, less than 5% of solar panels will ever produce as much energy as it took to make them, wind turbines are useless if there is too much or not enough wind. Both lose output in bitter cold, solar panels lose output if they aren’t cleaned regularly. The only logical conclusion is that both are just money laundering operations for the deep state.

I tried selling equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing to solar cell fabs in the 90’s. I met multiple times with every solar fan in the country. The yield rate rate was incredibly low. That’s to say if they started to make 1,000 they would end up with 200 good ones. They would not buy even simple equipment like mass wafer transfer tools which would double their yield. Why? Because the solar cells were near worthless. Nobody was buying. All the manufacturers were in for the long term, waiting for the government to subsidize them and force people/businesses to buy their product.

Yes, and SMRs (small modular reactors) are the answer. We have making them for decades to power aircraft carriers for instance. They are very safe. They are made in a factory and can be shipped and installed almost anywhere in the world. We are capable of using this proven technology to create a trillion dollar a year American industry while suppling the world with clean and cheap electricity. What’s not to love?

The last time I checked, oil companies got about 3 or 4 cents per gallon in oil subsidies. Came out to 1 or 2 percent.

OBVIOUSLY, ‘green’ is at least an order of magnitude higher.
