They are closer and could be at least as exciting. St. Louis is the #1 US city for murders, Detroit is #4 and Chicago is #10.

I always wonder about people who go to depressed/impoverished areas to gawk at the animalistic locals. Here, we do Jamaica, Mexico, and the D.R. Euros have all of Africa at their disposal. For these folks, it was Portland.
