Israeli strikes said to knock Damascus, Aleppo airports out of commission
The Times of Israel ^ | 10/21/2023 | Emanuel Fabian

Israeli planes carried out strikes on airports in Aleppo and Damascus early Sunday, knocking both out of service, Syria’s state-run media said, marking the third such attack in 10 days.

One civilian worker was killed and another wounded in the strike on the Damascus airport, the SANA state news agency said.

Runways in both airports were damaged, causing all flights in and out of both airports to be canceled or diverted to an airport in coastal Latakia, SANA said. Official notices to international aviation authorities, known as NOTAMs, indicated that the runways would be unusable for at least two days.

According to SANA, Israeli missiles fired from the Golan Heights hit the Damascus International Airport, and jets flying over the Mediterranean near Latakia struck Aleppo International Airport in Syria’s second city. The strikes came simultaneously at around 5:35 a.m., it said.

The reported attacks come as tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group have brought the two to the cusp of all-out battle, and with the Israel Defense Forces gearing up for a ground invasion of Gaza to uproot the Hamas terror group, responsible for massacring some 1,400 people in southern Israel two weeks ago. *** Both airports have been struck numerous times over the past year, as Israel is believed to be stepping up efforts to prevent the shipment of advanced weapons from Iran to its various Middle East proxies, chief among them Hezbollah.

Both airports were hit on October 12 and Aleppo was targeted a second time on October 14, according to Syria. *** The strikes in Syria appeared to mark the fourth simultaneous arena where the IDF is being engaged, in addition to Gaza, the Lebanon border, and the West Bank, which has also heated up in recent days. ***

My concern is that Biden, who indirectly financed the terrorist attacks, is going to drag us into this conflict.

Perhaps Biden will send Syria some humanitarian aide.
Would $500 million be enough?

It’ll be fine. Liz Cheney says Biden is offering better international leadership than Trump did.

So worry not!😎

It’s and overused cliche but...”It’s not a matter of “if”, it’s a matter of “when”, a major terrorist incident occurs in this country as a result of Biden’s open border policies.

I hope I’m wrong.

Well, with our woke military leaders, and a full Strategic Petroleum Reserve, we’re more than ready.

”It’s not a matter of “if”, it’s a matter of “when”, a major terrorist incident occurs in this country as a result of Biden’s open border policies.”

That’s the idea and what we’ll get is an even bigger police state and another Patriot Act.

Why can’t Syria be the “palestinian state”?

Syria has nearly 20 military air bases, so I am not sure what military value it is to take out the two main civialian air bases in Syria. If Asad wants he can let Hamas or Hezbollah or Iranian or Russian folks use the military air bases when/if seeking exit from or entry to Syria. I am not sure want damage the srikes had on Hezbollah.

Lrobably to keep a bunch of jihadis from other countries to come running in to help at the last minute, or at least delay travel.

The Gaza invasion must go off as smoothly as possible and maybe they want to hit Hezzbola at same time.

“Why can’t Syria be the “palestinian state”?”

Because 70 or so percent of Palies in Israel have family in Jordan.

“Catering the runways. No resupp!y.”

I’m not sure if catering to runways is a wise thing to do!
