A California city has become the first in the US to pass a resolution condemning Israel — accusing the Jewish nation of committing “ethnic cleansing and collective punishment.”
The resolution passed by the Richmond City Council around 1 a.m. Wednesday states, in part, that Palestinians in Gaza “are currently facing a campaign of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment by the state of Israel.”
That “is considered a war crime under international law,” the resolution states.
It also calls for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the safe passage of substantial humanitarian aid to Gaza,” as well as an “end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land by Israeli military forces.”
“The city of Richmond opposes all existing and future military aid to Israel,” it concludes, while attempting to express support for Jewish members of its community.
Council members overwhelmingly supported the resolution, passing it 5- after a contentious, hours-long meeting that finally ended around 1 a.m. — to chants of “Free, free Palestine!”
The meeting started with Mayor Eduardo Martinez being accused of being a Nazi, prompting a shouting match that briefly delayed the hearing, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
“If my words pain you, I’m sorry,” the mayor said after re-adjourning the meeting. “But they are words that have to be said.”
He denied that the resolution was antisemitic, saying: “There has not been a single word that says we are against the Jewish people.

There is no 'equivalent' to that level of evil.
And in our county ONE STANDARD for killers too - if they're sexual weirdos killing children at a Christian school or inner city blacks killing four neighbors - or white men murdering, or black nationalists mowing down dozens at a Christmas parade. Or a white nut running down a person in Charlottesville...One standard.
We never saw the sexual weirdo's manifesto - but if this white killer has one - the world will see it as soon as it's found. That's wrong. And Merrick Garland doesn't get a pass because his Grandmother died in the holocaust. ONE Standard - also known as the rule of law.
Unless you have lived in the Bay Area you just can’t imagine what a rancid cesspool Richmond is.
Richmond is 44% Hispanic, 18% black, and 18% white. It’s murder rate is 3 times the national average.
If memory serves, Richmond teachers asked for the extra $5,000 ‘bilingual’ pay bump for being bilingual in......Ebonics.

During my ESL days, I found my Latin American students to be nearly as anti-Semitic as the ones from the Middle East and much of Africa.

Hating another ethnic group makes your group appear (in your mind) superior. Racism and hatred keep you from being at the bottom of the barrel.

I don't know when this thinking originated, but it's long since gotten out of hand.
The Palestinians are held hostage by Hamas not Israel.

Californians think Gaza is a high end shoe company most of them has never been any farter than Las Vegas it’s all they know about the country.
The liberals would have us believe that anyone who is not white is virtuous and oppressed. When I spent over a month in Venezuela,I noticed there was a lot of open derogatory comments being made about blacks. When I inquired about their antipathy, the group of Venezuelans that I was with broke out into disparaging song about blacks. So it goes.

You may have a good point because I’ve never understood why a group of people would want to kill another group because of who they are.
I’d appreciate it if someone would tell me what Israel has done to Muslims to justify their annihilation. Or should I say what they are now doing.
In America we have a similar situation: the blacks want some of the white’s money because of what the white’s ancestors did.
