Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is reportedly planning to appear with Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S. at a Monday event in Kentucky as part of his push to reportedly go “all out” on securing $61.4 billion of American taxpayer aid for Ukraine.
Politico’s Burgess Everett reported that McConnell will appear with Ambassador Oksana Markarova at the University of Louisville to “again publicly commit the United States to Kyiv’s defense against Russia,” as part of his push.
McConnell’s support for Ukraine pits him against some in his own caucus, as well as House Republicans who are refusing to send another cent to Ukraine after the $113 billion the U.S. has already committed since February 2022.
The $61.4 billion for Ukraine would be part of a larger package requested by the Biden administration for $105 billion. Of that, $14.3 billion would go to Israel, $13.6 billion to the U.S.’s southern border, $9.15 billion for humanitarian aid for Palestinian, Israeli, and Ukrainian civilians, and $7.4 billion for Taiwan and Asian allies.

How about $61 billion for our own country?
...and mitch can take his chicom wife Purina chow with him!!!
Yes & so many of them would get me banned.
Is Leader Mitch one of those kid diddlers?
Just wait for this whole global fustercluck to end and I guarantee it’s going to be our (the US Taxpayers) responsibility to rebuild both Ukraine and Gaza to the tune of trillions. We pay for the weapons to destroy them, then we pay to completely rebuild them.
Good, but I sense the swamp has taken over DC and the 22 House RINOs may bend on this and screw the American taxpayer and future taxpayers.
Ukraine doesn’t need out $$$$

Congress didn’t include funds for Ukraine in its spending bill. How will that affect the war?

The 27-country European Union is poised to send about $42.2 billion in aid, including more than $17.8 billion from Germany alone and $5.9 billion through EU institutions, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy’s Ukraine Support Tracker.
Other top contributors include Denmark, $3.7 billion, Poland, $3.1 billion, and the Netherlands, $2.6 billion.
Some of the EU’s biggest military powers are contributing only small portions: France — the bloc’s No. 2 economy and considered neck-and-neck with Britain as Western Europe’s biggest military power — has pledged $555 million and Italy some $691 million, the tracker says.
Even far-smaller Lithuania has ponied up more: $744 million.
Britain, which is no longer in the EU, has pledged nearly $6.9 billion worth of military support for Ukraine. Norway, which is also outside the EU, has committed nearly $3.9 billion.
And provide welfare to their people
Allow Israel to purchase all the arms and munitions they want. They are our ally, but Israel can go into debt instead of making Americans go further in debt. Israel can pay their own way.
Use our military to defend our border and to eject enemy invaders (deport). It is an expensive operation removing 20+ million illegals from our midst. That needs to be paid by reallocating funds from the shuttering of every federal agency that has been weaponized against American citizens.
his donors demand it
screw the voters
I despise this weasels old fossil to his shoelaces. He is an accomodator to the killers of America.
Update for post 36.
"Report: McConnell to Appear with Ukrainian Ambassador in ‘All Out’ Push for $61.4 Billion Taxpayer Aid"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument
"Power of the purse" House RINOs need to inform McConnell of the following. Justice Joseph Story had clarified that peacetime foreign aid is unconstitutional.
If the tax be not proposed for the common defence, or general welfare, but for other objects, wholly extraneous, (as for instance, for propagating Mahometanism among the Turks, or giving aids and subsidies to a foreign nation, to build palaces for its kings, or erect monuments to its heroes,) it would be wholly indefensible upon constitutional principles [emphases added].” — Justice Joseph Story, Commentaries on the Constitution 2 (1833).
Tuberville claims wars in Ukraine, Gaza were ‘created’ by Democrats (10.27.23)
Amen brother. I am so done voting for people who hate me and mine. What will we name the new party after the GOP goes the way the Whig Party?
He thinks this will help his cause...whatever it might be.
It’s not in evidence that it’s US interests he pursues.
Is Israel in a recession? Is there a reason why theyvcant finance their own defence....or use the near 4b that was giving to them in the defense fund?
The defense contractors check must have cleared
The budget is certainly a mess. To say it hasnt been managed would be an understatement.
But there are costs to everything, including costs to ignoring what is happening in other parts of the world and ignoring our allies and our enemies.
Israel is an ally, gives us access to an important and unfriendly part of the world, and I support military aide to defeat a common enemy that would turn toward us in an instant.
Ukraine is not an ally, but Russia is most certainly an antagonist creating problems with its aggression. I support keeping them tied up rather than threaten other European trade partners. But not without oversight, which is what Biden has allowed.
I did not consider Kuwait an ally, even though it was in some ways. People say we liberated Kuwait for oil. That may be true in some minds. The bigger picture was we liberated Kuwait to preserve the nation state construct. Allowing nations to invade other nations without consequence is condoning chaos, which also has costs.
13% of our budget (in 2023) is allocated to defense. 50% is allocated to SS, Health, and Medicare. And that 50% is non-discretionary. When we figure out how to end our welfare programs, which are the largest costs in our budgets, then the cost of our military protecting our interests (stability and markets) will fall in line.
“30 billion for our own border.....“
This money is for processing, transport, food, health care and housing not a dime of it is to stop the invasion
Hope Trump speaks out against Johnson if he tries this. And he needs to ask where it is in the Bible.
