A snicker-story...
I have learned more and more about the emf released by the new “smart” meters, so I bought a Faraday cage for it. I remove it two days before the meter reading date and replace it two days afterward. Well, lo and behold, my meter stopped working, no longer has the digital display and the power company needs to replace it, sending me notices for five months in the mail saying they can’t read it. I ignored the letters until it was time to remove again last week when I noticed the lack of LCD display and called them. They’re supposed to call me to schedule the replacement. I haven’t received a power bill in two months, so I thought it was finally time to call. I’m not certain if it simply failed, or the Faraday cage fried it. Haha.
No loss of power to the house and they say they’ve been estimating my bill based on last year usage.
Now I wonder how they will adjust the bill based on real usage if the meter is fried. I’ll probably be over charged, considering the AC has been off for the cooler weather.
Oh well.
When the new meter arrives?
YEP! BACK goes the Ferrari cage =o)
...just an anecdotal story.
I’ve got a smart meter. They just came out and changed it one day...no asking, no warning. I didn’t know it put out RMF. (Maybe that’s what’s wrong with my neighbor on that side if the house.)
Seriously...I’m going to consider a Faraday cage.
Wow...there’s a whole industry out there selling shields. Also watched a video about creating your own shield using tinfoil and window screening. Bares further investigation. Thanks!
