The Minnesota Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected an attempt to block Donald Trump from the state’s GOP primary ballot next year based on the 14th Amendment’s “insurrection clause” but said the challengers can try again to block from the general election ballot if the former president wins the Republican nomination.

Was Trump basically tried by the senate on the charge of inciting an insurrection? Not guilty? Do we just keep putting people on trial until we get the verdict we like?

Yeah, that sounds like “we will wait until Trump is the nominee and then disqualify him”. Oh, OK.
Why it’s judicial cowardice, that’s what it is. Lib court didn’t want to offend the base, hoping some other court will rule first to give them reasoning one way or the other that they can use, perhaps a SCOTUS ruling on appeal from some other court that definitively decides the issue, hence the punt
This is a modest win at best.
SCOTUS needs to make a definitive ruling before this is settled.

And there was no insurrection declared in the first place. Below is a list of declared insurrections in the United States. The Jan. 6, 2021 event is simply not there.

If the Democrats can get away with this, they can use the Insurrection Act to remove any candidate they don’t like.
