President Ronald Reagan rode a “Morning in America” message to a blowout re-election victory in 1984, based partly on warm feelings about his economic performance. Today’s economy is similar in many ways to Mr. Reagan’s as he entered that campaign, with one big difference: There is widespread voter angst over the incumbent’s economic stewardship.
A New York Times/Siena College poll shows President Biden trailing his likely Republican opponent, former President Donald J. Trump, in key battleground states. Poll respondents rate the economy poorly and say they trust Mr. Trump more to fix it. That’s true even though the economy grew faster and added more jobs over the last year than forecasters expected, while inflation fell sharply from what had been a four-decade high

Economic gains? Carter-esque inflation is not a gain.
I’m sure THIS time they will fool voters that the economy is going great after 3 years of selling the same line and no one buying it
“while inflation fell sharply from what had been a four-decade high”
A high that Biden caused, and the “fall” is probably illusory, since they keep putting out fake economic numbers that get revised a few months later.
I still clearly remember the “GAS EVERY OTHER DAY CRAP”.
Yeah, there’s no fooling the public when their rents and grocery bills are 50% higher but their wages are stagnant.
I do NOT believe one word of the “weekly jobless claims”.
ADP knows the real numbers——THEY ACTUALLY PREPARE PAYROLLS
Who are we supposed to believe? The new york times or our lying eyes?
It is Mourning in America.
its the messaging
they need better messaging for their sucky policies
Odd Even days, I carried a 5 gallon can in my trunk and would walk up to somebody pumping gas and give them $5 to fill it. The lines were 1 hour long most of the time.
I have only had economic losses. No gains at all. I want Biden to go away.
Bragging that the current inflation rate is lower than your previous sky high rate is like a guy bragging about beating his wife less this month than he did in September.
Reagan: Morning in America
Biden: Mourning in America
The elites deliberately ignore that median real household income has fallen three years straight.
The so-called good times ARE NOT translating into improved economic conditions of ordinary people. The people are right, and the elites are wrong about the state of the economy.
Let’s be fair. Trump had a hand in this. Shutting down the economy, and air-dropping trillions of dollars in pay-check protection gambled the future on the present. Of course, Fauci played his part, claiming COVID was the second coming of the Bubonic Plague.
Initially, it was 30 days to slow the spread. Then, briefly, 45 days. Then, a year and a half. The rhetoric switched from slowing the spread through the shutdown, to stopping the spread through the shutdown. Then, vaccines and endless boosters, as opposed to developing natural immunity to normal exposure.
Once this plague aid Pandora’s Box was opened, there was no stopping the raid on the Treasury. The historic deficit of 2020 subsequently has, under Biden, become normal.
Think of Afghanistan. G.W. Bush planned the transformation of our presence in that country from denying it to the Taliban into transforming it into a democracy capable of defending itself. But, it was Obama who reviewed and then followed through on that plan.
We’ve got to get beyond the personalities and the politics, and focus on the problems.
Calling what we are living through
Gains shows they are fresh out of lies and don’t know what lie to tell.
Let’s just call it “Mourning in America “
