“Remember when GHWB was practically guaranteed reelection. Mario Cuomo stayed out. Jay Rockafeller stayed out. Others stayed out. Then, intending 1992 to be his practice run, Bill Clinton waltzed to the WH.”

You forgot: Ross Perot.

In hind sight, I wish that I had stayed out of the Bushes and voted for Ross Perot myself.

“I look at this guy and I see backstabber”

For a candidate who Trump and his army have declared dead in the water, it is quite curious that there remains such a fixation on him. Trump continues to trash him relentlessly. If he’s history, why even acknowledge his presence? Additionally, Trump is getting a bit annoyed with Nikki Haley now, to the point where he finally assigned a derogatory name to her (”bird brain”).

Like it or night, Trump left himself wide open for a conviction in the FL classified documents case by lying to his own attorneys. Voters should strongly consider that likely development before enabling the feeble and corrupt Biden to stagger into a second term.

Perot had no intention of winning ... that wasn’t his role to play ... that’s why he dropped out when he was pulling ahead ... and then got back in when he damaged himself enough ...

Note I said maybe.

I agree with all you.

He has opted himself out of any consideration. Ever.

So wasting huge amounts of money while they get single digit % is the right thing?
Saying and doing stupid things in the process of wasting huge amounts of money is the right thing?

If people would just do as God (not people or their own foolish mind) tells them to there wouldnt be so much waste and things would all work out well. Even the rough patches would make sense and be worth it. Instead people try to make things happen or do for man made selfish reasons and they create more problems and unnecessary situations for the country and themselves.

I can speak for Trump and myself. Give no quarter to an enemy that would turn on those who once supported/defended them. Traitors/posers are always worst than a known enemy.

Btw, if you want to support a political backstabbing poser, go for it! No problem.

DeSantis did it to himself.
Nationally he is done.

I like RDS as the Governor of my state, but he's not saying the right things on the campaign trail.

Almost like he's a different person...

You did not read my comment for understanding. Campaign funds are not wasted if they educate.

“ALL of the Pubbies who ran this cycle did the right thing”

agreed ... watching a gaggle of single-digit midgets repeatedly tear apart each other and the massively popular GOP standard bearer Donald Trump on live TV has certainly endeared the GOP to millions of voters who would have otherwise been completely turned off by the GOP, as well as demonstrated the amazing leadership potential of GOP candidates ...

Agreed. Some big donors played to his ego when he should waited until 2028 while supporting Trump.

You are educated to know what a candidate stands for and how she/he conducts a campaign. Lighten up!

He was popular. He was a shoe-in if he waited his turn. He turned against Trump and we turned against him. It is his own fault.

He’ll never be ready. He lacks the toolbox.

* * *

Not only that, jacknhoo, DeSantis clearly lacks the political legs to endure a long campaign and still stand tall at the finish line.

And another thing’s for sure: he’ll never be able to fill the shoes of Donald Trump as a highly successful President.

IMHO, RDS is/was a construct. A house of cards.

I don’t for one second he’s as good a Governor as he gets credit for. I don’t think he’s that smart. And he clearly isn’t at the same level as President Trump.

He was a relatively unknown in the House who got lucky the first time. And was the recipient of over 800,000 Republicans/Conservatives moving to Florida.

Folks talk about how he handled the hurricanes. The worker bees in Florida handle the hurricanes. They can do it blindfolded given that damn near all of them were born down there and have been dealing with storms for a lifetime.

House of Cards it is!  Check out the cringe-factor baseball cards he had made... military cards too!

Probably a product of Bush family grooming, DeSantis was a captain of the Yale baseball team -- same as G Herbert Walker Bush.  Too bad during his captaincy, the Yale baseball team's record was the worst in the Ivy League.

Maybe at that time he was given the chance to get a Harvard law degree.  Then when the Iraq War came, they saw that he got a JAG Corp legal job working with prisoner of war affairs for six months in Falluja.  Then they fabricated a non-combat Bronze Star to brighten his future political resume.

That was the start.

Then being the savvy measure of men and women Trump is, Trump reluctantly supported DeSantis for the Governor's job, fully knowing DeSantis would eventually be Trump's opponent.

Trump weighed the odds and knew DeSantis could easily be crushed when DeSantis unmasked as a RINO and exposed his true agenda, seeing how the guy lacked a personality, was self-conscious of his height and had zero practical experience running a business, etc.

Here's a 46-second X ad spot featuring the baseball cards.  He is indeed a House of Cards :-)
