A suspected terror attack on Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls today saw a car explode, causing a massive explosion at a toll checkpoint that killed the vehicle's two occupants.
Fox News cites law enforcement sources who say the intention was a larger attack to kill more an the FBI Terrorism Task Force is investigating but officials are yet to confirm the motive.
Two men who had been traveling in the vehicle both died in the explosion. Their identities remain unknown and there were no other serious injuries.
Witnesses and law enforcement officials say the vehicle hurtled down the wrong lane from Canada towards the US at 100mph then went airborne before exploding in front of a second checkpoint.
The Rainbow Bridge is the busiest land crossing between the US and Canada and was particularly busy on Wednesday with many traveling between the two countries for Thanksgiving.
Buffalo Airport is now closed as a result of the incident.
It comes just two days after an intelligence report signaled increased risk of a terror attack in New York City.
Some NYPD officers have been redistributed to assist in Niagara, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said today.
The force had already been placed on heightened alert for the holiday and amid rising tensions globally surrounding the Israel Hamas war.
After the explosion, motorists who'd driven into America were told to leave their vehicles and walk back into Canada while the cars were checked for bombs.
MSNBC cites unnamed law enforcement officials who say no other devices have yet been found.
Witnesses who were in the US Customs and Immigration building next to the bridge were turned away, ordered to walk back over the bridge and leave their vehicles on the US side to be checked.

FOX is reporting that the car drove from America toward Canada at an estimated 80mph
The left expected this, the sheep aren’t alarmed.
Bomb sniffing dogs. all international flights are closed down. explosives have been found at all bridges. Feds are now covering up... probably Palestine related.
KABC radio is reporting the car was inbound from Canada and exploded when it was directed to secondary inspection. At any rate, no one will believe the official government story.
I’m not sure that blowing up US Customs property is going to enrage Americans. It’d be like blowing up an IRS or FBI facility. Not likely to cause much upset.

car was reported speeding/driving erratically on niagara falls blvd then detonated at the border.
First of all, speeding cars that crash sometimes explode. Without other evidence, you can't attribute it to a bomb, although the damage I saw pictures of was fairly extensive, but still, can can the know the motives of the now crispy critters?
Secondly “leave you cars and walk back while we check them for explosives”? So, they would send a possible terrorist away while they “checked the cars”?
This is just typical after-the-fact FBI terrorizing the public. They pretend they are doing something after the incident is over that they completely missed.
This is stupid on parade.

This is a speeding car crashing into a toll booth. No "explosives" involved.
None of it makes sense.

The damage looked more extensive than you’d expect from just a car crashing into the place. But it looked less extensive than you’d expect from a bomb. Maybe it was a poorly constructed bomb?
