They will not stop you from speeding. It will just cut you a ticket when you doo. The only question is: one ticket per trip, or one per each crossing into speeding territory?

We will hear the usual “ if you don’t speed and obey the speed limit then you have nothing to worry about”.

“If a vehicle is driving 50 mph in a 60 mph zone and I am limited to 60mph, if I try and pass him at 60 I will be in the opposite lane for an extended period of time.”

My understanding is that you are not technically allowed to exceed the speed limit ever, and that includes passing. I think police let this one go, but they don’t, technically, have to and could write a ticket for passing at greater than the posted speed.

My concern is, if someone is chasing you with intent to kill, you can’t push the limit to save your life? Okay, that means I’ll start carrying an extra magazine. There are so many places in modern life where following the rules exactly as written would be crazy.

There’s an insane number of new laws passed every year, and you’ll find them at all levels of government and, governmental departments. It reminds me of when I was tasked with reviewing all of the corporate policies at General Dynamics. I created a matrix of diametrically opposed rules and regulations the doing of which, or the failure to do them could both result in dismissal. My boss took the list and laughed out loud. He said, “Yeah, how about that?” My interpretation was the gotcha coming or going was a feature, not a bug. Same thing here.

“This time it comes from the National Transportation Safety Board and it involves outsiders having control of the gas pedal in your car.”

Well, of course. When it is noticed that a full scale invasion is promoted by the Federal government in daylight and nothing is done to resist it, then anything goes. They just might implement a policy that a Federal official has the right to enter a man’s house and have sex with his wife. I wonder if there would be the slightest pushback from a completely pussified and prissified nation.

This will kill people.

I'd suggest that the proper object of that sentence should be the totalitarian maggots proposing it.

I drive a truck & haul horses.

Many states require that ANY vehicle such as mine—towing a trailer cannot exceed 55 MPH. NOT even on open Interstates.

Boats/Utility or work trailers/travel trailers/horse trailers-—applies to all of them.

I have put over 250,000 miles onto my 1976 4 speed Chevy dually truck-—mostly hauling horses. I have had people FLY past me-—WELL EXCEEDING the limit-—but I do not go over the 55 limit. I have a 4 speed manual transmission, and on downhills, I use 3rd-—SOMETIMES have even used 2nd gear downhill on Wyoming mountain roads.

THIS is just plain stupid-—BUT THE BIDEN ADMIN EXCELS IN ABUNDANT AMOUNTS OF STUPID.

Crap like this makes investing in a bit of spit/polish for the old ‘02 a wise move.

The NTSB said the recommendation came out of the investigation of an accident in North Las Vegas. There, a man under the influence of drugs drove his 2018 Dodge Challenger at about 103 mph through a red light into an intersection, hitting five other vehicles.

ONE accident by a guy on drugs is being used as the excuse to take over every single vehicle in the USA? Unfreaking believable. As others have said, we all know this has nothing to do with traffic safety and saving lives.

The Federal Highway Administration says that back in 1971 the nation drove 1.1 trillion miles. In 2022, it had grown (almost linearly) to 3.3 trillion miles. Cumulatively from 1971 to 2022, the nation had driven 122 trillion miles.

Yet, in the minds of these tyrants, ONE ACCIDENT out of those 122 TRILLION MILES justifies taking control of every single vehicle in the USA.

The mind boggles.

No doubt. I was on a rural two-lane not long ago and the brain trust set the limit at 45, like it was a suburban collector street. 45! 🙄

I’ll never understand the insatiable need for some to control others. Almost always the target is normal, law abiding citizens.

When it comes to actively pursuing criminals target the desire seems nonexistent (e.g., southern border, inner city crime, government corruption).

Life is precious. If a speed governor SAVES JUST ONE LIFE, then it’s well worth a very slight reduction in speed.

Imagine how many we could save if the world-wide speed limit was 20 miles an hour.

it’d be good to ban air travel, too, for all the unimportant or unncessary trips for such time wasters as “vacations,” and “business travel” in a world where Zoom is just as good — and for more time and pollution efficiency.

An Efficient and safe world is a happy world.
