When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, one of the most immediate consequences was also one of the most severe: a spike in hunger. Those who lost jobs had less money to buy food. Supply chain disruptions led to empty store shelves. With fewer transportation options, even simple things like traveling back and forth to the grocery store became a lot harder. Suddenly, millions of additional families were having a much more difficult time putting food on the table.

Americans are the fattest people on earth. The poorer they are, the fatter they seem to be.
WIC is completely corrupt. I know entire departments full of students at Ivy League schools, whose parents are extremely wealthy, who are receiving food stamps.
HOW much of those ‘benefits’ get traded at local store for booze, ETC???

It's a massive government subsidy program for the grocery store industry, food producers, and the U.S. agricultural sector.
If the lobbyists for these industries could do it with a straight face, they'd produce dozens of studies claiming that American children need 35 meals per day to survive.
I remember more than once being behind a WICs mom. Got the kiddie food separate from the rest of the cart and paid with the ‘Voucher’. Then used the EBT card on the rest and THEN used cash for the wine and beer. Yep, I’d say we need a better WICs. But call it NACHO. Nacho money!

Did the obesity rate in the United States go down? Perhaps the focus should be more on nutrition rather than hunger. Food stamps and WIC should only be allowed on basic food ingredients, not on processed food. It’s hard to get obese on rice, beans, meat, vegetables, and fruit.
