It’s amazing that any Americans survived the horrible days of gang violence when they had access to legal machine guns before they were banned.

In Sacramento last year, a handgun converted into a machine gun was used during a gun battle...

That's awful! Why, it should be illegal to convert a handgun into a machine gun.

Oh, it is? Then problem solved.

They were giggling. All I could think of is much money they were spraying around.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That right there would keep me from buying a machine gun even if they were easily available.
I also belong to an outdoor range. Over on the rifle range I would marvel at the guys who fired a carefully aimed shot. Scoped the hit. Fiddled around. Maybe shoot five or ten rounds while I was emptying my day’s quota of AR-15 shots. Now I know why. When I started 5.56 was 42 cents a round. Now they’re up around a dollar last I checked.
No discussion of how various US attorney's offices are completely failing to arrest and convict felons in possession or those possessing such devices, which are already a serious felony.
But a guy on Youtube merely mocking the NFA by talking about how ridiculously easy it is to use a credit-card like template to convert an AR rifle to full auto is arrested, convicted, and sentenced to hard time.
The government's animus is obviously directed at conservatives and not actual criminals because we are their real enemies.
You need to check again.
I just glanced at Ammoseek and there is all the 223 you could ever shoot going for about .44 p/rd.
Thanks. When I got my last Covid check, I bought a backup AR and 2000 rounds. I piled the 2000 rounds on top of the other 4000 I had. So I haven’t checked in a while.
My younger brother joined the Army back in the 1980s at age 33. I remember him say the Army was considering making the M-16 fire a 3-round burst instead of full automatic fire because full auto was mainly a waste of ammunition.
Did the Army ever do this?
Arresting and jailing inner city teens for customizing firearms is racist.
There is a video done by a Class III FFL who legally possessed a "switch" for a Glock. He took a stock Glock 17 to the range and demonstrated the swap out of the rear plate on the slide for the "switch". He then installed a large mag and turned it loose. It indeed fired full auto. Possession of the switch by a non-Class III FFL is a felony. The harsh truth is they are sold in bad parts of town for $30 to $50.
Yes. On full auto you are inaccurate and can shoot off your entire supply in a very few minutes. Plus it’ll burn out the barrel much faster. They shifted to 3 Rd burst control at some point.
That has always been my practice. A big day on the range might be 10 rounds in a tight group at 100 yards to be certain the scope or irons are properly zeroed.
I’d love to have one but not stupid enough to buy one.
My range had a Valentine's Day special. Dinner and full auto. My wife and I split a 50 round box to try out the Glock 18. I kept my rounds on the paper, but was quite surprised that in addition to recoil, the rifled barrel causes a muzzle rise and twist to the upper right. My wife did just fine as well. Kept most of her rounds on the paper too.
Having experienced firing the Glock 18, I really wouldn't own one. A good semi-auto pistol in 9mm/10mm/45Auto is satisfactory for personal defense.
Good for you. Apparently others adopted your strategy as well.. We have steel targets at 100 and 200 yds that go gong went hit. I get a kick out of ringing the bell. Gong. Gong. Gong. Not nearly as precise as you though.
I’ve seen these for Glocks. They are regular 9mm pistols, then they stick in 30 round magazines.
I cannot imagine they hit anything after the second bullet, but it sends the rounds down range fast. Then it jams.
