When I was in school we always sang “Don’t Give Up The Ship” on Dec. 7. I thought the song was written about/for Pearl Harbor Day, but found out it’s from a ‘30s movie.
Still, it runs through my head every Dec. 7. Still remember all the words.
“He watches. me petting on the others, and I think one day maybe he’ll give me a chance.”
Our feral mother does the same. We brought her indoors in 2014, after bringing in her kittens in 2011. The kittens tamed quickly, always vying for lap time.
Mama watches the cuddling and you can see the wheels turning in her head. She loves being petted and will sit and sleep next to you, but no more.
One time recently she had one paw on my lap, but then backed off.
I believe the same thing happened after 9/11.
Isn't it amazing that we have so many brave and strong people willing to fight for this country instead of running away to another?
Ugh...not so carefree. Snow and Ice everywhere. And nasty road salt.
Trying to wash Tippy’s feet is like trying to nail jello to the floor.

I hope we both get to love on our little ferals before too long. Pirate hasn’t had trust for a very long time, but he is beginning to understand some “rules”. He has a little dish of his own, and he sort of waits for me to fill it. He’s a good kitty.
Thank you!!
