Here’s a little family story:

During the twenties a fellow democrat who was very rich and prominent tried to convince my granfather to go into politics. This wealthy person promised to back him all the way and finance his campaign if he would run for Congress on the democrat ticket.

Grandpa went home to Grandma and shared the “good news”.

Grandma said, “If you do that, it will corrupt you and ruin our lives. If you do it, you can kiss me and the children GOODBYE.

Naturally, Grandpa told his friend that he wasn’t interested.

The friend was Joseph P. Kennedy.

Grandma was RIGHT.
