ATHENS – Just after the Holy Synod said it was opposed to religious acceptance of same-sex marriage and letting gays adopt children, the leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Ieronymos, has homosexuality a “deviation.”
That came during a visit to Argolida in southern Greece where it was reported that he said, “The Church has its beliefs… Those who are in the Church and believe have a way of life. Whatever is outside this thing is a diversion from life.”
When asked whether all people are children of God, he said, “All are children of God, but we cannot say that everything they do is all good,” although there weren’t further clarifications or specificity.
His comments came just as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he will introduce a measure to legalize same-sax marriage during his second term that is due to end in 2027, pushed back because of opposition in his party.
Greece recognizes civil same-sex unions but not marriage and the leader of the SYRIZA opposition party, Stefanos Kasselakis, had to go to the United States to marry his partner, American nurse Tyler McBeth.
Archbishop Ieronymos
Save Thy people, O Lord,
and bless Thine inheritance.
Grant victory to Thy Church over her enemies,
and protect Thy people by Thy Holy Cross!
To anyone that believes in the Bible and the True Word, it is obvious. Pope Pervert doesn’t know this though.
Yes, that contrast is one of the reasons that I posted this article.
True Church vs “Playing church”.
the leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Ieronymos, has homosexuality a “deviation.”
That’s not a complete sentence; it makes no sense. Perhaps it’s “SAYS homosexuality IS a deviation?”?
He understands that it is his job to stand by and defend the faith, not to change it according to the spirit of the times.
Indeed.
Guarding the deposit of the “faith inherited from the Saints” and preserved through the blood of a myriad of Martyrs.
Exactly. That’s because he’s a heretic!
Good for the Archbishop!
Jeez! What have we come to when such a statement is viewed as worthy of a news story? God help us and forgive us.
Being a “Roman” Catholic, is a Deviation the same as a sin or does it mean a deviation like coloring outside the lines?
My local Archbishop doesn’t have the courage to call a sin a sin.
The Greek word for “sin” is αμαρτία which literally means “to miss the mark”; so a deviation leading to “coloring outside the lines” misses the mark and is therefore an αμαρτία.
C’est tres interessant (Jr high French I).
Oui!
Perversions in the Thyatira church
Is “Tyler McBeth” even a real name?
Blessings to all who are preparing to celebrate the Nativity of our Lord!
