The Church’s new LGBT edict is confusing and ill-timed
NY Post ^ | 23 December A.D. 2023 | Mark Bauerlein

Pope Francis rattled Catholics yet again this week with the announcement that the Church will now bless people in same-sex relationships.

...

The missive authorizes priests to bless people in same-sex relationships as long as the blessing doesn’t appear to legitimize same-sex marriage, which the Church continues to oppose.

And there’s the rub: what does that new blessing really do?

How is it supposed to work?

What does it mean?

...

Priests can now bless same-sex couples, but not their actual relationships?

What’s the difference – and why the distinction?

There are more obscurities, enough to conclude that ambiguity has been purposely built into the new policy.

...

This pattern of half-baked logic has become a speciality of sorts for Francis, who’s displayed a canny talent for throwing Catholics off balance ever since he rose to the Chair.

In 2013, for instance, the newly-installed Pope startlingly stated that God “has redeemed all of us, all of us, with the Blood of Christ . . . Even the atheists. Everyone!”

The outburst left Catholics scratching their heads over the meaning of redemption and the value of observance if nonbelievers are also entitled to their benefits.

Three years later Francis confusingly weighed in on divorce, telling Catholics to “accompany” people who have divorced and remarried (a Catholic sin),.. never clarifying what “accompany” actually means.

Affirm them in their choices — or send them to confess their sins?

Take your pick.

The slippery rhetoric led the U.S. Bishop’s onetime head of doctrine to accuse the Pope of “intentional lack of clarity” and “chronic confusion.”

Declarations from the Vatican aren’t supposed to work this way.

Announcements should clarify, not confound — and this one has certainly confounded.

...

The world in 2023 is baffling and dispiriting. We need church clarity now more than ever.

The obfuscation is amazing. The explanation of the obfuscation is even more confusing.

The edict is merely confusing and ill-timed”? Leave it to an LBGTQXYZ degenerate to completely miss the mark.

Is he going to ‘bless’ the pedophiles next? Is there anyone that Pope doesn’t except? Well, other than honest conservative citizens? The only people it appears he hates...

“The obfuscation is amazing. The explanation of the obfuscation is even more confusing.”

And it’s all quite intentional... to create chaos, confusion, misunderstanding and to divert people away from the true word of God. It’s diabolical gaslighting. A seemingly “new norm” in this era that we’re in.

What Church is this author talking about? The Catholic church is an apostate religion based on sin and is getting worse day by day.

He hasn’t stated it, but I’m pretty sure he detests anything and everything MAGA.

Confusing is on purpose. Ill timed? I think not.

Perfectly timed to delay for a bit declaring "gay marriage" a "sacrament" (you know they want to).
Waiting for exactly the right moment. Soon. Maybe this Easter.

Leave Rome.

Find a local Bible church.

Yep.

If a person goes to an RCC church for “ worship”…. That’s anti Bibical and anti-God.

The office of Antichrist, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, is teeing this up for one of his successors to take it even further.

The confusion is purposeful so as to finesse it into ‘did God really say?’ like his spiritual father Satan did in the garden.

The Church is to bless any whom Jesus would and in the same circumstances. While there is one paragraph that I agree is confusing and should be changed. The rest of the letter is strictly Catholic teachings...which are the same as Jesus’ teachings. No difference. The left and the anti Catholics are trying to make hay out of nothing.

For Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox alike, Romans 1 remains in the canon.

Additionally, for more than these, the tales of the "overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim" appears in Genesis, so all the Judeo-Christian world must still confront the issue.

Ignoring to be trendy and "inclusive" and "gender diverse" and all is simply against scriptural accounts. Basing some "new" version of a denomination on ignoring parts of the canon means the canon no longer has actual meaning to the revisionists.

But their genitals and what they do with them seems to be the "god" -- with a small "g" -- that is worshiped.

I do not like this Pope, having said that I read the entire letter and except for one paragraph which is what the media and braindead are focused on there is perfect clarity. The paragraph in question states that couples in a irregular or even homosexual relationship can receive certain non liturgy blessings if they are sincere in wanting to remove the sin from their lives. He should not have used the word couple...that is the flaw.

It’s his way of gradually bringing in acceptance of homosexuality. Like the frog in the pot, he’s gradually increasing the temperature, until the frog boils.

Though not a Catholic, I heard this also well explicated while listening to a EWTN program the other day.

The priest was quite precise that the confusion is in part media-driven, in hopes of driving Catholics towards the "orthodoxy" of the very political LGBTQ+ movement.
