We should remember the now modern proverb of Nixon-era economic advisor Herb Stein to the effect that what cannot go on (without destroying the nation), simply will not go on.

In some sense, the country for recent years has been cruising on the fumes from prior and likely better wiser generations and institutions. In 2024, the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due.

We are witnessing the end of the American Empire.

Our culture is in decline and being rejected by the world at large. Our currency is backed by nothing. We have no great work ethic. I just saw a video showing the highest paid athletes in the world time-lapsed from 1999 to now. It started dominated by Americans and ended with two in the top ten. Our justice system is a joke. Our elections are compromised. Our media is completely immoral.

Unless there is a great and immediate change, America is done.
