Russia heading to victory in Ukraine, says former UK senior officer

Russia is heading towards victory in Ukraine with the initiative unequivocally transferring to Moscow, one of Britain’s most senior former officers has told The National.

In a wide-ranging interview, Gen Sir Richard Barrons argued that Ukraine’s military “has got nothing left in the locker right now” after its gruelling summer counter-offensive.

“The initiative in this war is unequivocally transferring to Russia and that is not the situation we expected at the start of this year but it’s an honest appraisal of where we are,” said Gen Barrons.

“That's a combination of the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive to deliver even its minimum objectives,” said Gen Barrons. “Then the major wobble in US politics and now EU politics on financial support to Ukraine. The reason he's much more confident is because he's not losing this war.”

“Putin will be rubbing his hands with glee at the distraction of Gaza particularly with artillery ammunition that was going to go to Ukraine now being fired at Palestinians,” said the veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

If Mr Putin was to prove successful then he could end up with an army twice as powerful and more experienced than the one he started with, he said.

That’s the same assessment I’m seeing from other sources.

It’s the same assessment because the Regime has thrown in the towel on Ukraine, and is now signalling the change of Narrative.

Ukraine was going to lose from day one, and everyone knew it. They kept the scam going as long as the could cover up Biden’s crimes, and plow money in the laudromat.

Why do you think after 200 billion, the Ukes on the front lines were complaining they didn’t have the resources and ammo?

It’s because the money wasn’t going to support them.

For a nation with nothing left in the tank, they haven’t even committed many of the resources they have.

I believe that Russia has consistently taken ground for the last 3 months. This has been at horrendous costs, probably Pyrrhic. The propaganda is great in this war. The fact that it is entering yet another year, with very little change in lines, suggests no victory for either soon.

Biden should immediately impose a reasonable Ukraine tax, they could implement it similar to a sales tax.

What is this talk of “winning”? Nobody wins unless they can govern what they “won”. Russia can NEVER govern Ukraine after all they’ve done to them.

You may want to ask Putin how soon they’ll get that giant landingcraft off the bottom and dried out.... not to mention the many tons of GRAD rockets, artilary shells and drones that blew sky high yesterday mornings ago! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVFWYjqUq-k

Inevitable, it’s been the track record for decades. The USA “fights” wars halfway, and eventually the wars become politically impossible. War is best fought all-out or not at all.

Russia mission was not to rule all of Ukraine.

What a silly, unrealistic thing to say. You’re brainwashed.

That’s like telling General Eisenhower to pull back because we lost ships and equipment on D-Day.

Get real.

This is like the V1 and V2 rocket attacks on England.

A media sensation but not strategically signficant.

One way to assess how big the losses are is to look at Russian equipment losses over time.

And what you see is they are losing significanly less vehicles than for the same perlod last year.

Good point. Attrition was always on Russia’s side.

Henry Kissinger quote

It may be dangerous to be America’s enemy, but to be America’s friend is fatal.

It’s true

Name a UKR problem, and Russia does not have it.

🇺🇦 From January 1, 2024, in Ukraine it will be impossible to see a doctor without a military ID; they won’t even issue a coupon.

— Intel Slava Z
~~~
The West agitated for their war hoping to change the leadership in Russia. Using UKR as battle bait, it cost the West nothing in human cost, but money borrowed from mostly China. As usual, the West got a war, lost it, and the leadership of Russia is well intact.
Russia is paying it’s own way, btw.
BRICS is only getting started as Europe, Africa and the Middle East tire of the US State Department mettling, of CIA colour revolutions and the heavy handed trade tactics in smaller countries, while insulting the sovereignty of other developed nations.
How disgusted are they?
Now, even a Black Swan event is openly discussed, emerged from the internet chat rooms onto ABC NEWS reporting, by the reliable Catherine Herrege, formerly of FOXNews Corp.
I don’t think so. It appears that the ukes have finally stripped rus front line troops of air support.
that’s huge.
