I was going to say the same thing.

This is not reasonable at all. They is punishment and they are sending a message to the rest of us.

Comply and submit or else we’ll ruin you one way or another.

You nailed it.

Of course the govt has no business sanctioning any marriage.

She is now a bigot in the eyes of the law to remedy the stigmatization of gays in society.

It’s the usual, they can label us deplorable, racist, domestic terrorists, cultists, conspiracy theorists, threat to democracy stupid and on and on but call them hate crime words and risk freedom. It’s insane.

may God continue to bless her for her great and honorable stand against sodomite marriage for her constituents. for a time the left and their corrupt judges will be able to wield lawfare (e.g., Alex Jones, Guliani, Trump, Steyn etc.), but it is a self limiting principle in my opinion, and will soon lose it’s power as we learn to use it against the left as well.

Mrs. Davis, without fear, has done the right thing, in the right way, is in very good company, and has already prevailed for God and country, imho. lawfare is a badge of honor. and all should continue to stand up against it. in His time, i’m sure God will come to her aid in such a way as to Glorify Himself. in any case, our Lord, says clearly:

Mat 5:11
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

Mat 5:12
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

she’s in good shape no matter what.

What’s her stand on marriage?? She’s been married 3 times.

As if no one who lived a sinful life in the past can take a stand against sin after years of evidencing penitence. Or did you ever consider that or care to investigate before you threw her under the bus? So go ahead, keep it up - if you like damnation, for the measure you use, as a sinner yourself, will be one that you are judged by. (Matthew 7:2) Rather, read the Bible and "judge righteous judgment." (John 7:24)

Unless shown otherwise Davis acted in good conscience at great cost to herself, including the disdain of some "conservatives." and we need more brave souls who refuse to salute the flag of Sodom.

It’s too bad that our “courts” are partisan, and no longer think about the things you addressed in your post.

I disagree. We need people who hold comservative beliefs to remain in office and do the right thing.

You don’t see libtards / communists quitting their posts when they feel the heat. They have to be removed kicking and screaming, if they are even removed at all.

Many decades ago, I worked for a computer company whose products were used in a wide range of applications, commercial, industrial, and military. One of our engineers, who was a committed pacifist, learned that our sales people had contracted for an application involving munitions testing. He objected, saying he could not in good conscience work on a project involving munitions.

He was given the opportunity to work on another project, but instead he chose to try to pressure our company to reject the contract, since he didn't want to work for a company that was involved with munitions, even on a different project. Hint: That's a losing battle.

He obviously lost that battle, but he wisely chose to quit and take another job, rather than be fired for refusal to do the job he was hired and paid to do. He found a company more to his liking, and did well.

The System has power to crush. The wise person gets out of the way of the crusher, and lives to fight another day, in a battle that can be won.

The reason govt is involved in marriage is because they encourage and make massive piles of money off divorce. They make 50-60 billion off divorce each year. The “family courts” racket.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kentucky-clerk-same-sex-marriage-kim-davis-turbulent-marital-history/

And which is from 2015, and states ""Four and a half years ago, Kim Davis was a completely different person," Staver told CBS News. "She made a lot of mistakes. She regrets many of the decisions that she made, and she loves the Lord, and she doesn't want to be disobedient."

And I see no evidence that she has not been. Thus the question is, why your witch hunt against someone who refused to be complicit in the recognition of an immoral sexual union? Do you have it in for Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Bakery as well?

Do you even oppose the gov. affirming same-sex unions? Just what kind of conservative are you?

Time for some answers for your wholly one-sided liberal-type scorn against a political martyr.

I think it depends on whether one has a decent chance of prevailing in the battle one picks. Standing in the path of a bulldozer might be righteous and committed, but it makes one a martyr, not a victor.

What is FR's opinion of Rachael Corrie? We can disagree with her political viewpoint and beliefs, and perhaps we can respect her commitment, but we think she was stupid. She picked the wrong way to fight her battle, and she was crushed and killed. Not wise, in my opinion.

If Kim Davis and others wish to make a real difference in the ongoing war for the soul and future of America, they would do better to pick battles they have a chance of winning. Either gather enough compatriots in overwhelming numbers to stand up to evil successfully, or find a different angle of attack.

Of course, this is just my opinion, YMMV and I respect your difference of opinion.

Yet if it was a matter of working on his sabbath then he would have won.

Sometimes, but thank God for those who fought and won, while sometimes righteousness as well as the contrasting the nature of the System needs to be more fully exposed as being, and that is history. The NT church was built upon such. But which hill to die on is a matter of what God states, and conscience.

The past 2000 years have many examples of different ways Christians have dealt with conflicts between their faithand The System. Martyrs provide spiritual inspiration, and win the approval of God, but generally do not change The System. Victors have the greater effect on The System, and as far as I can tell, also win the approval of God.

I respect the martyrs because they maintained their faith in the face of evil, but I also praise the victors because they triumphed over evil. And that matters.

standing in the path of a bulldozer might be righteous and committed, but

Brings to mind The Apostle (9/10) Movie CLIP - Nobody Moves That Book (1997) HD!

makes one a martyr, not a victor.

When compromise would be sin (which was the case with NT church martyrs) , then being a martyr is being the victor against the devil and his system. Change of address for a better one, and to the shame of the system.

She was following Kentucky law. The USSC cannot change the law of KY by edict. It tells the State legislature to change their law to reflect the order from de Fuhrers. There was no law in place yet, so she has to follow current law. Under the 10th amendment and the Natural Law, marriage is a religious ceremony. The US govt crossed the line into regulating Religion. If they want to perform Federal Civil marriages, get to it. Republicans should get rid of marriage licenses and leave it up to the Churches.

> I noticed you used the word *had*. That is truly alarming. Sounds almost demonic in nature and like he didn’t even know it happened. Which is also alarming.

Yes, in general we engineers were not privy to the business contacts, negotiations, and contractual agreements. Projects came into being and we were then assigned to them. In big cases there was a company announcement of winning a given contract, and within a day or so, the selected personnel would have a first view of what they were going to work on.

Sometimes we'd be excited: "Cool project, can't wait to get to work." Sometimes we'd be shocked: "You sold them a perpetual motion machine? How the heck do you expect us to do that??" And sometimes we'd be horrified: "You can't be serious, this is going to cost us our souls."

Never a dull moment. :-)

Yes, very good point, and well stated. Moral victories have real value.

Here how I see it. Only the state can recognize the civil union. Marriage is a sacred ceremony that is recognized by the church. No one cares if partner A is legally wed to partner B in a civil union.

It's time for the government to get out of the "marriage" business.

The Catholic Church is like that. Only Catholic marriages are "valid" according to the Church.

She’s been legally harassed as much as baker Jack Phillips has been.
