Online spending during the 2023 holiday season hit a new record, according to a recent report from data firm Adobe Analytics.
The numbers, released Thursday, showed online spending between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31 spiked by nearly 5 percent to a record high of $222.1 billion on retailer websites and apps. This is an increase of 10.4 billion from the previous year, Adobe noted.
Mobile shopping also had a breakthrough this past holiday season, surpassing desktop for the first time and accounting for 51.1 percent of online sales, according to the report. This is up from 47 percent in 2022 and was highest on Christmas Day.

Let’s adjust this for inflation and look at goods and services purchased as opposed to just the gross expenditure. They are lying with numbers lacking context.
“Biden’s booming economy!” The media narrative of the 2024 election.
A five percent increase in holiday shopping?
Pssh.
Thanks to Bidenomics and his outrageous inflation rates, this means even LESS items were bought this year at much HIGHER prices.
Gee, could it be that EVERYTHING IS FAR MORE EXPENSIVE?!
Factor inflation in and then compare
The economy is very strong. Inflation has fallen back to normal levels. The stock market is at or near all-time highs. Unemployment is low. Interest rates are falling. The lowest wage workers have seen the biggest relative gains in income.
fast food workers will be making $20 an hour in march. Lifes never been better!
I wish people would stop posting articles from the Delusional Lying Leftist “The Hill”.
The Hill, like all Delusional Lying Leftist Media, misleads in every article I’ve seen from those deceivers.
Almost certainly the reason for the “new spending record” is because of inflation. The Hill wants you think we’re financially better off than before. But the truth is, we’re not richer. It’s just that the dollar buys less than it used to.
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA, then you’ll be voting for Biden I assume.
Curious about the drivers beyond simply digital adoption. Example, how much has violence and theft contributed to the traditional retail consumer to buy online? What market segments no longer have a thriving and competitive retail environment?
I read much about the decline of our cities and DA’s refusing to punish crime (or allowing a certain amount without penalty). Would be interesting to see that additional data point showing how Leftist policies are so dangerously flawed.
So more dollars have to be spent to buy the same thing now.

The point of posting these articles is to dissect and deconstruct the Democrat narrative.
Yeah, I know, the standard FR doctrine.
But the fact is, repeating lies only strengthens lies.
What defeats lies is repeating THE TRUTH.
This. Exactly.
EXACTLY
Exactly. Record inflation = record spending.
Been a couple-three years since I went to a mall.
cause everything costs more... not that there was any splurge
Spending $$$ is the most because inflation is the highest in how long?!
