Pardon me if I don’t consider the complete confidence of Joe Biden as meaning a whole lot.
I work for DoD and have been in back during meetings with him while he was on active duty and now as the Secretary. To paraphrase Churchill, “he is a modest man with much to be modest about.” One co-worker called him “a plodder.”
My experience is that he defers decisions in hopes that situations resolve themselve, thus avoiding tough calls. When he does have to make a decision, he tends toward the cautious, least risky option.
Given the names mentioned prior to his nomination, he was a least bad choice, but he sure isn’t a good choice. The only reason to not demand his resignation. Is to prevent someone worse from getting the job.
He is less harmful on a slab in ICU.
