The number of births in France has fallen to its lowest level since the Second World War in a grim indicator of Western demographic collapse.
Figures released this week from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) reported that 678,000 babies were born in France last year, a decline of 48,000 over 2022 and the lowest of any year since 1946.
As with other countries in the West, France has long faced a declining birth rate, falling nearly every year since 2010 when 832,799 babies were born in the country, approximately 20 per cent higher than in 2023. However, according to Insee, the speed of decline has been increasing, with the birth rate standing at 1.68 children per woman in 2023, compared to 1.79 in 2022 and 1.99 in 2013.

There is an old cartoon showing the French in a zoo and being surrounded by a bunch of Third worlders looking down upon them. I think the demographic decline was noted before WWII.
I wonder what the Muslim birthrate is in France. Probably much higher than the native French.
Problem #1) There are too many people. The earth cannot sustain so many billions of people.
Problem #2) There are not enough people. Nations face collapse as births decline.
Bottomline: You need to panic about something. Doesn’t matter what.
What kind of toast?
This assumes that the Total Fertility Rate will remain below 2.1 (The rate needed to maintain the native population). It may, but it may not. Even if not, having a sound modest (to small) immigration rate can still preserve one’s culture. IT just takes leaders who are just as interested in maintaining the traditional culture as appeasing the Chamber of Commerce. And that doesn’t seem to be the case in most Western nations.

I just spent this last Xmas to New Year in Paris visiting my daughter, son in law and 3 and a half year old granddaughter who live there for my son in law’s work. I can confirm, there were not a lot of little ones running around.
