What the candidates can learn from two former presidents about foreign policy

The conventional wisdom has long been that this year’s elections would be dominated by typical domestic issues, particularly the economy. But the atrocities carried out by Hamas against Israel on Oct. 7, the resulting war, and fear of escalation could alter the race.

More Americans now say that foreign policy should be a top priority for the U.S. government this year, the Associated Press reports. And President Biden is facing high disapproval rates for his response to events in the Middle East. A Pew survey conducted in late November and early December found that a 41 percent plurality of U.S. adults, including one-third of Democrats, disapprove of his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

Obama has compounded that screw up throughout his three terms.

What an odd title for an opinion piece. "What the candidates can learn from two former presidents about foreign policy." And yet the short, short article really offers nothing in particular. The article writes, "voters should...."

Personally, a conservative front runner, voters should vote for Trump over any Democrat. Probably not what the article intended....

Titles that don’t match the content are very common nowadays.

“foreign policy should be a top priority for the U.S. government this year”

Foreign policy, or how we engage with other countries is always a top priority for government.

Reading the article, it lays out a Deep State “Wish List” implementing all the levers of clandestine power, NONE of which point to securing freedoms and liberties of US Citizens.

The questions this election revolve around what form and direction that policy will take, and who will lead it.

Endless Wars led by the unelected Deep State?
Or
MAGA Reciprocity led by our elected officials?

The choice is clear this time.

For me? I say “Roll MAGA, roll!”.

The former president we should listen to is George Washington: avoid foreign entanglements

The US is uniquely positioned to pull up the drawbridge, fill the moat and go full isolationist. We have plenty of farmland, energy, raw materials, expertise, producers, and consumers.

We don't have to do it forever, just a decade or so until the debt starts to shrink.

Some times looking at what people did can teach you what not to do.

That is a nice quote from Cicero. Problem is Cicero did not say it. The origin is from a fictional book about Rome. That is the speech fictional Cicero said.

Problem is Cicero did not say it.

He absolutely did! And his warnings about nuclear waste are all coming true as well.
