Trump: ‘Highly unlikely’ DeSantis will end up in Cabinet

Former President Trump said Sunday it was “highly unlikely” he’d ask Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to serve in a second Trump administration after DeSantis ended his own presidential campaign and endorsed him.

Trump, who is the dominant front-runner for the GOP nomination, told “Fox & Friends” the bitter rivalry between him and DeSantis was water under the bridge. But he downplayed the prospect of the governor having a role to play in a Trump White House.

“It’s probably unlikely,” Trump said after DeSantis dropped out of the race. “But I have to be honest: Everything’s a possibility, but I think it’s highly unlikely. I have a lot of great people, and I have great people that have been with me right from the beginning.”

Vivek and DeSantis both will probably get jobs in his cabinet. Hopefully his picks are better than last time

I think he’s saying...he’s a damn good governor. I wouldn’t take him away from that.

DeSantis has no loyalty. Keep him away.

Trump needs the support of governors outside of DC. Said that about Sanders in Arkansas.

DeSantis already has a job. He needs to stay there and do it.

DeSantis can do a lot more good as governor than he can in the Cabinet. And executive experience as a state governor is a lot more valuable as presidential prep than being an Executive Branch department head.

I don’t think DeSantis would be a good fit for any cabinet position. He’s young enough that he has a future in politics that won’t be helped by a cabinet post in any administration.

Desantis is a wise guy who had the balls believe false wholly created media narrative that Trump cost republicans in elections in 2022...he was the heir apparent...and his ego bought into it...he is on his own and cannot be trusted same with all the turncoats buying the media narrative...if you made a logical argument that would be understandable that is one thing...but TDS messed with their minds and they exposed themselves.

Florida is a big state and not only needs to stay red, but DeSantis runs it proactively, rather than like a lot of these milquetoast governors. He is more useful where he is than in a cabinet anyway.

Local guy was saying he went to an Elise Stephanik fundraiser at Mar a Lago and Trump came in, talked for an hour, took many questions. One audience member asked if he had to do something over again from his first term, what would it be. Trump quickly answered - Yes, his choices for who he “hired”, said it would be totally different this time around.

So yes, he gets it.

“ Can we win the election first before talking about cabinet members?”

Can’t be said enough. Trump has a mountain to cross- a mountain of fraudulent ballots. The White House is far on the other side of the mountain.

Oh please, just because he runs against someone doesn’t make him unloyal. He’s an exceptional Governor and was the darling of these boards until he committed the awful sin of running against our exceptional President. I wish BOTH unbridled success in their futures. The difference is BOTH have flaws and neither is free of controversy or contradiction. When that’s recognized and unhidden for all to see the aura of hero worship drops and you see both as men. Simple, flawed men who are leaders and always will be.
