Electric vehicles will never dominate the market, Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda has said, in the latest sign that car companies are backing away from the troubled technology. The Telegraph has more.
Battery-powered electric vehicles will only ever capture 30% of global market share, the Chairman of Toyota has predicted, raising concerns about consumers’ willingness to align with Net Zero goals.
Akio Toyoda said that traditional fuel-burning cars, as well as hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles would make up the rest of the market.
The grandson of the founder of the world’s largest car manufacturer said shifting towards electric vehicles is not the answer when a billion people in the world are living without electricity.
He told a business event this month that limiting consumer choices and ability to travel by making expensive cars is not the answer.
He said: “Customers — not regulations or politics — should make that decision.”
He added: “Engines will surely remain.”
Toyota widely kept a low profile on this until a flurry of headlines demonstrating the limitations and issues with electric cars. They also widely never went “all in” because Red China, US and EU governments wanted them to.
Guess the EV proponents buy that all the energy expended to have one from the drawing board to a functioning(?) vehicle appears like magic? Like kwanzaa, net zero is a 🐂💨💩 idea from the jump and is NOT real.
They’ve invested in hybrid that was a good move
The maker of the best engines in the world says that cars will continue to have engines, because the public likes them.
I can see why GM Ford and Chryser want that to change.
Correction.
Says THE MARKET! If it weren’t for massive government subsidies and mandates these glorified golf carts would be relegated to “progressive” close cities with constant weather.
He’s a smart man.
He must be cancelled.........................
This man needs to stay away from tall buildings and salad bars.................
This is great. Finally someone who matters speaks the truth. Toyota does not have Biden and the rest of the rats standing on their neck so they can call out the BS. The “big 3” are at the mercy of the US Government regulators, Toyota is not.
That’s like saying the US will never be a socialist nation. Does it stop anybody?
They’re right.
But the True Believers will shriek over it and deny the reality.
Common sense from a corporate executive—I am stunned.
I thought they got rid of all the ones with any brains.
#heretics
“The world will never defeat the Japanese Empire!”
oops.
Never say never.
Lots of folks want a simple transportation device. Once we get EV’s to the “simplicity” of a rechargeable cell phone or an electric powered vacuum cleaner, they will be more widely adopted.
Economical, efficient, portable, rechargeable electric power for vehicles is not there yet. But early adopters help pave the way for lots of new tech.
But EV’s are still way groovy and I want a Model S!
Like Carburetors and Fuel Injection.
Cummins 12 Valve and a Powerstroke.
Once they get it right enough, tech is groovy and can replace the old ways.
30% ...”i” for “Idiot.”
You are a lot closer than you realize.
Decades ago, before the Internet, politicos noticed this. approximately 30% of the electorate are liberals, another 30% are conservatives and 40% are independents. It’s the muddy-mushy middle that the politicians on both sides covet and try to win.......................
Call Hertz. They will be glad to sell you one very cheap............... https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tesla-cars-used-hertz-discount-ev-fleet/
That’s exactly what I was talking about, but I think it’s far worse than “30% of the electorate are liberals.” They are dyed-in-the-wool, hardcore marxists, no longer just “liberals.” They believe everything should be free, that we have way too much freedom, that the earth is on fire, that we should shut down farming, that every baby should be murdered, that there’s no reason to have a southern border, that all whites are racists, that nobody should own a gun, that government is benevolent and has our best interests at heart, etc, etc.
In other words, idiots.
Can they repeal the Laws of Thermodynamics? That will be interesting to watch..........................
