A senior Ukrainian Air Force official refused an offer from two Australians to receive 41 of the country’s decommissioned F/A-18 Hornet fighters, bluntly stating that "we do not need your flying trash."
This statement effectively killed the deal, highlighting a stark misunderstanding between Australia and Ukraine amid Ukrainian pilots' desperate attempts to evade Russian aircraft.

Zelensky “Next time just send cash. A lot of it”.
Beggars can’t be choosers. Ukraine should shut up and just gratefully accept whatever military aid is being offered.
Choosy beggars really annoy me.
EC
Reminds me of the people on the street corners asking for money for food. When you offer them food, they refuse and just want the money........
Silly Aussies. Don’t they know Hornets can’t be deposited in Swiss bank accounts?
I gave up on Ukrainian leadership and good sense when we were treated to the Ashton-Cirillo character.
F/A 18’s are flying trash?
Who knew.
I’ll take two.
Right??!!
In college, one of my neighbors went up to a homeless guy who had a sign ‘Will work for food’ and asked him if he would be his butler at a picnic in exchange for some fried chicken. Can you believe the guy refused??!! I guess he wasn’t THAT hungry.
If they are giving them away, I’ll take 4 of them. 1 to fly and 3 for spare parts.
” ... one of my neighbors went up to a homeless guy who had a sign ...”
Your neighbor is nuts.
Reminds me of a friend’s brother in high school.
He angrily refused his father’s offer to purchase a used Honda and DEMANDED a new BMW.
He had to ride the schoolbus for the rest of high school.
What “misunderstanding”? Someone on the Ukraine team made a very clear, unambiguous remark.
Fine then. You won’t have these aircraft.
If this was a misstatement, it would be up to Ukraine to get their diplomatic act together and say so.
It may be too late.
I wonder what the “misunderstanding” was. Something must have been lost in translation?
Would think that even the ‘Z’ would find a buyer to cash in on them if he took them to raise funds for his yacht payments.
opportunity for the private aggressor force???
Russians might even be interested in them for training. He'd probably need to broker that deal through a third party.
Weren't there Freepers who were touting how much better the F18s were than the F35s?
The RAAF F-18s being offered are A models built between 1984 and 1990.
The best ones have already been sold to Canada, so the ones left over aren't exactly pristine.
But they have to be better than the MiG-29s Ukraine is flying now.
}{€££S B€££S !!!
Give Me the Contact Information for whoever is handing out these FA-18’s !!!
I’ve got some Friends that have spare room in their Hangars.
