Republicans Demand Drafts of Joe Biden’s Speech on Firing Burisma Prosecutor

The impeachment inquiry sent a demand letter to White House Counsel Edward Siskel on Wednesday requesting the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) provide all drafts of then-Vice President Joe Biden’s speech about firing Burisma Holdings’ prosecutor Viktor Shokin.

The inquiry is interested in the original drafts of the speech because Joe Biden bragged in 2018 about successfully pushing for Shokin’s removal — a condition for Ukraine to receive a critical $1 billion loan guarantee, Joe Biden explained himself.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) requested the original drafts of Joe Biden’s speech more than five months ago, but the White House refused to allow NARA to release them to Congress.

During the Obama administration, Joe Biden was the designated foreign policy point person to Ukraine. The House Oversight Committee argues Joe Biden threatened to withhold U.S. aid to Ukraine in 2015 until then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko fired Shokin, who had jurisdiction for an investigation into the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

Hunter Biden sat on the board of Buramia, earning $1 million a year until his monthly compensation was cut in half two months after his father ceased to be vice president.

“This White House has previously permitted NARA to provide Congress with presidential records related to the Trump Administration after only one month of White House review,” the inquiry wrote the White House. “We expect the White House to do the same in this instance.”

I posted this today on another thread:

"Biden said on video that Obama had given him the okay to withhold the funds if the firing didn’t take place. He said he told, Poroshenko that if he didn’t believe it, that he should call Obama. So why isn’t anyone asking Obama about his involvement in the threat? And shouldn’t that discussion between Obama and Biden, over the withholding of U.S. funds have been kept as part of the official White House record? Maybe that’s why they don’t want to release those documents. Biden made it perfectly clear that Obama was backing him up on withholding the money until the prosecutor was fired."

And we know what that meant.

True, but they likely believe they need whatever document(s) that exist, that clearly state that, and back the video up. Or Republicans are hoping the White House will drag this out long enough through the election. Republicans will be in trouble in Joe gets the election stolen again for him, or they run with someone else, and the election is stolen then too. It will be a problem for Republicans that is, if they retain a majority in the House. They just might have to do their job if Joe remains the usurper, or they can drop it, using the excuse that Joe is no longer a viable candidate, so impeachment is moot.

That sounded like an off-the-cuff remark...not really “scripted” in any way. The statement is clear and stands on its own merits.Very stunning...very incriminating.

Why didn’t they demand it in 2020? Oh yah, they were too busy helping Joe steal the election so they could get rid of Trump and MAGA! Wake Up People!
