San Francisco supervisor wants to regulate grocery store closures
Axios ^

Posted on 02/07/2024 1:50:47 AM PST by TigerClaws

(1/31/24 story) On the heels of Safeway's decision to keep its Fillmore grocery store open until January 2025, one San Francisco supervisor wants to regulate grocery store closures in the city to ensure local communities are not blindsided.

Why it matters: The proposal is an effort to ensure food security throughout the city and is a direct response to Safeway's announcement and subsequent reversal of its decision to close its Fillmore supermarket, the only full-service grocery store in the neighborhood, in March.

What's happening: Supervisor Dean Preston plans to officially introduce an ordinance, dubbed the Neighborhood Grocery Protection Act, that would require grocery stores to provide at least six months' notice before closing, meet with community members before closure and explore replacement supermarkets in the area.

Flashback: In 1984, city supervisors passed an ordinance requiring supermarkets to do as much, but then-Mayor Dianne Feinstein vetoed the legislation, calling it "an unnecessary intrusion of governmental regulatory authority."

In her written decision, she added that enabling any supervisor to "act as a bargaining agent" with a grocery store "would only serve as a disincentive for supermarkets" to run their businesses in San Francisco. Ahead of the city's decision that year, then-Safeway executive Robert E. Bradford expressed his opposition to the ordinance in a letter, saying its passing "could discourage us from building new replacement stores in the city." Axios has reached out to Safeway for comment on this new proposal.

What they're saying: "It was a good idea then, and it's an even better idea now – we need notice, we need transparency, community input, and a transition plan when major neighborhood grocery stores plan to shut their doors," Preston said in a statement. "Meeting the food security needs of our seniors and families cannot be left to unilateral, backroom decisions by massive corporate entities."

What's next: The city attorney's office is currently drafting the ordinance, according to Preston's office. Then, Preston plans to introduce the legislation at an upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting.

Theft by Democrats causing too many food deserts?

Giving EBT and SNAP not enough? All leading to......

First, it will be food deserts, Amazon One, logging in with palm print or cellphone, end of brick and mortar stores that simply CANNOT survive the theft by those who think it is their "right" to steal whatever they want.

When these things happen and they WILL happen - it will be the biggest life-changing event on planet Earth - Jesus said then shall be Great Tribulation such as never was

(Lurkers please click HERE OR on my screen name to see my FR homepage for more information - will open in a new window from HERE - God bless)

Retail will be forced into installing more secure systems - When the Mark of the Beast comes I expect this kind of shopping to be rather "normal" in society - or will spread very quickly.

Start one of those hippie co-ops - they may suck in quality and selection, but they don’t go out of business.

Oh wait - yes they do.

Kensington Community Food Co-op has closed, despite significant efforts to keep it going

I don’t know how to post pictures, but I would post the chinaman in a dunce cap, for this. If Safeway thinks they’re avoiding this, they’re nuts. Pull in the closure date to the 6-month minimum and pull out. Otherwise, you’ll be the one getting a public flogging.

Actually, this is a great way to end these gubmint gi-me-dat cards. Just leave no where they can be used.

There’s no doubting Jack Chick’s sincerity but a lot of his depictions were something else. Case in point: the meter maid’s trike with a guillotine on the back.

This is the path to government run supermarkets with bare shelves.

Yeah, that one is rather striking.

I think it is well-within the realm of possibility that there will in fact be portable guillotines - because so many Tribulation Saints will (rightly) refuse the Mark of the Beast (thusly saving their eternal souls - Revelation 20:4)

The story, apparently, on Jack Chick is that he used to preach in prisons (etc.) with a flip-chart and he would illustrate his sermons that way.

Then one day, someone suggested to him that his illustrations be put in little books......

Yep. Or perhaps, shelves well-stocked, for those that have the Mark of the Beast to BUY and SELL.

I predict (Captain Obvious) national Digital Currencies will become prominent and eventually be blended into a GLOBAL Digital Currency - all databases merged or linked into one GLOBAL MONETARY SYSTEM so that participants (with the Mark of the Beast) can BUY and SELL.

Now, I can't prove that from Scripture, per se. But, INHO, this seems to be the way that things are shaping up.

No mention of the real reason they’re closing.

Become a “members” store. They have to sign up,, present a credit card and valid ID, and get a background check for theft or violence for the last decade.

No guests. Pay a fee.

Now, this would never work in a typical crime ridden democratic hellhole. But you could do malicious compliance.

Actually that’s already here (pics to follow). Also, such an example is Sam’s Club - which yes, STILL has theft and attempted theft. That’s why they scan random items at the exit.

Corner stores effectively being “nationalized” (or “cityized” in this case).

Well, the answer to that is No. Private business, do as they deem appropriate. “Decree” to be ignored.

That is the basic implementation of the Amazon One store - cell phone, credit/debit card tied to one person - non-payment / insufficient monetary balances / line of credit will result in non-admittance (eventually) and disallowing purchases.

Pay with your hand - Forerunner to the coming Mark of the Beast (Revelation 13)

Using one's hands to pay for food. A boxed "convenience store" (Hudson Nonstop, LAX airport, Dallas Love Field airport), to Arbor Trails Whole Foods (Austin, Texas), to paying for food at Panera Bread, to other Whole Foods stores (owned by Amazon).

Yes, I use Amazon for shopping from time-to-time but this "scan-your-hand-to-pay" is already alive and in operation - no doubt it will continue to expand / grow in acceptance. The conditioning (intentional or unintentional, it will make no difference) has started.

I'm sure the people in the pics think they're showing the latest "cool thing" - possibly mocking and laughing at any reference to the "Mark of the Beast" - this is just a sampling of the pictures I found.

By the time the actual Mark of the Beast, these kinds of payment systems will be fully-embedded in society I think.

Amazon One

The world is not there - YET. But the conditioning, intentional or unintentional - it will make no difference. Fast, easy, secure, convenient. IMHO, cash will be outlawed. Digital Currency 100% will be the future. /Captain Obvious

And a second round of pictures (after the Bible verses):

Acts 2:38
New King James Version

38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

John 3:17-18
New King James Version

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be Saved.

18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 10:9-10
New King James Version

9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be Saved.

10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation.
