Under New York law, Trump — should he fight the verdict as his attorneys have indicated he will — would for instance have to turn over the full amount he owes Carroll for a court to hold in escrow until the appeal was resolved.
He’d also have to pay a hefty interest rate if he eventually lost the appeal.
Trump could seek a security bond to help him cover the money — but it won’t be cheap.
If Trump had trouble coming up with the cash or securing a bond, he could also potentially seek bankruptcy protection.
“However, what complicates that choice, and may make it an unlikely one for Trump at this time, is that filing for bankruptcy opens the books on Trump’s finances, including assets and debts, and he may not want that detailed information out there as he runs for another presidential term in the 2024 election,”

I am sure there are “bond” options that allow you to put down a percentage and the courts will accept the “insurance.”
When it comes to the court systems, there are always people willing to pay your bail or give you a bond...as long as they get to suck money out of you.

Nobody will put up a bond of that size without Trump putting up collateral.

- The passing of a law, specifically to bypass the statute of limitations in the E. Jean Carrol case,
- The presiding judge’s refusal to allow Trump’s legal team to present a defense for their client,
- Letetia James campaigning on the promise to “Get Trump” without even identifying any particular crime on his part,
- The documents case, where he’s being prosecuted for doing what every other living president has done upon leaving office - taking possession of documents for his archives that the Presidential Records Act authorizes him to do, while, simultaneously, “exonerating” Joe Biden for stealing classified documents he had no power to declassify or possess, as Vice President.
And you sit there and type “The rules are rules. They apply to everyone”. Young and stupid is no way to go through life.

Putting money in escrow during appeals is pretty standard in most litigation courts in the country. This is why major companies try to settle before it gets to this point. Or they settle almost right away after the court case.
Your argument is about the what got us to this point. I am not talking about that. I am referring to the article.
Take five minutes and learn just the basics about civil litigation appeals.

Understanding how the system works doesn’t mean you have to agree with it. You cannot seem to fathom that.
There is a reason companies avoid litigation and settle before going to court. Good lawyers will explain this to you.
You are asking me to explain what is going on before they got to this point. Thats not going to happen.
You seem to think I am taking the court’s side, or Carrol’s side. I am not. You seem to think the rules would be different if you were found liable in a civil case. They wouldn’t.
The “system” can be brutal and unforgiving. This is why 99% of good lawyers will tell you to avoid it. They will tell you to settle. And once found liable, they will tell you to settle. Even if you are not “guilty” because appealing costs a lot of time and money. And now you are learning what that means.
Don’t shoot the messenger. Look it up. And don’t get sued. It sucks.
You’re mistakenly believing that these cases are legitimate, and not part of the never-ending attacks on Trump. They’re all just another “Steel Dossier”.
That was one of Trump's failings. He tried to forgive and forget. Tried to work with the other side.
