CINCINNATI, Ohio -- An Ohio student is being hailed a hero for helping thwart a school shooting that was allegedly plotted by his classmate at this high school in Ohio. The teen's dad says, despite threats on his son's life, his 15-year-old son did the right thing.
"What was more important than his life was protecting his classmates and I could not be more proud of him. He's a hero for what he did," said Zach Swallen, the father of the teen who reported the threat.
Swallen says his son, Boom, wasted no time earlier this week when he told him that his classmate had revealed a plan to shoot people at Mariemont High School, near Cincinnati.
"The swift action was definitely warranted and I'm grateful that my son reached out," Swallen said.
Investigators say that classmate allegedly planned to kill eight students and a teacher.
"It was an obvious threat. There is no doubt that this was going to occur," said Melissa Powers, the Hamilton County prosecutor.
Authorities say text messages reveal the would-be shooter was conspiring with an adult who was out of state.
The teen suspect allegedly texted: "I need them dead really soon."
The adult allegedly responded: "I got you, bro."

Swallen says the suspect had threatened Boom if he told anyone about the plan but that didn't stop Boom from doing the right thing.
Rabid gun ban activist? Muslim jihadist? Gov’t agent to take heat off of Biden? Spouse of targeted teacher willing to kill students?
A lowlife, that’s who.

It’s a great story of heroism and getting involved for the right reasons, but I don’t think it was wise for this dad to approve his kid’s name and photo to be broadcast over the news. There are so many twisted people these days, you may find a small group who view Boom and his Dad as ‘Obstructions to what should have been done’.
Someone threatening the kid who saved people? What kind of person would do that?

Organized crime, unorganized crime, politicians, terrorists, gangs, spies, copy cats, racists, the insane, drug cartels, illegals…the list is endless. But that’s a fair start.

It was not a smart move to broadcast the boy’s name. There now might be someone insane enough to go looking for him.
A neighbor in Portland had a couple visiting from Cambridge, England and they were teachers of some sort. The wife proudly bragged to me that English was the minority language in their city. I looked at her in shock, made a comment or two and got a deer in the headlights look. Standing up for their Engishness obviously never occurred to them.
Not that different from this couple IMO.
