The left-leaning billionaire George Soros will be purchasing the second-largest radio company in America, according to court filings and sources close to the situation.
The Soros Fund Management has bought up $400 million of debt in Audacy, which owns over 220 radio stations across the country.
According to a Republican insider that spoke to the New York Post, he believes it was possible Soros was buying the stake to help influence public opinion for the months prior to the 2024 presidential election.

One would assume that any conservative talk shows on those 220 stations will be purged in short order.

This always fails miserably. Wasn’t Al Franken the last one to champion the left having the successes of Rush Limbaugh by buying radio stations?
Yep, this is an all out push to finally kill America as it was and bring in a totalitarian rule.
Now we can see why George Soros son is marrying Huma Abedin. Wives don’t have to testify, yet can still facilitate the Obama Mission Control oversight of programming.
That was a case of the left thinking they could create better shows.
This is probably a different plan- instead of trying to compete in the arena of ideas, the plan is most likely to eliminate competition by denying access to the right.

In 1990 there were 1,200 media outlets in broadcast radio and television. In 2010 there is/are less than 20. Of those, 75% of their revenue comes from pharmaceutical companies. Chew on that a bit.
The only media not already controlled by the leftists; so far every attempt at liberal talk radio has failed miserably.
And everyone over 50 already has their minds made up.
Luckily, conservatives don’t depend on talk radio as much as they did 15 years ago. There are other options today. I hardly listen to it anymore.
Radio is dead, but if you want to control some radio stations, I’m sure Soros would be happy to sell you the debt he just purchased.
this is called looking at a trend on political influence that lasted about 20 years and ended 10 years ago.. at this point I will laugh when he sells it in 5 years because it did not have the social influence that it had 10 years ago.
I’d be willing to bet that the stations are going to fail in the market.

Only about a dozen talk stations. A few have Beck/Hannity/Levin and few other second-tier hosts and a lot of locals.
In NYC they include both 24 hrs news stations, WCBS AND WINS. The nation’s oldest sports talk station WFAN. Two popular FM music stations, WCBS FM and WNEW FM.
