Suppressing conservative talkers has to be his goal. Left-wing talk radio has always failed. Honestly, is radio even relevant anymore? Rush is gone, and the rest are pipsqueaks. Podcasting has taken over, I think. (Not that I know first-hand, I don’t have the bandwidth at home, nor to I carry a smartphone.)

He already invested in Florida Latin stations and removed the conservative hosts there.

Conservative radio is one of the last bastions of free speech. Very worrisome.

He got KDKA and WWL, two stations that I listened to daily when I lived in America 50 years ago. I don’t know if they are still as interesting.

“Nobody under 50 listens to the radio.
And everyone over 50 already has their minds made up.”

I listen to the music channels on Sirius would be curious how many of us 75+ geezers do the same..

No.

No one person should control that much of the airwaves.

This guy and his organization need to be investigated, and
determine where every dollar goes.

The research refutes the radio is dead crowd. It still has it’s place for all demos.

Audacity owns 1210 here in Philly. They will fire all the talk show guys. Station will go out of business quickly as no one wants to listen to these freaks. Hopefully cost Soros many trillions. then the local talkies will have to start up a new radio station.

Yeah, there have also been reports released debunking that one, which was run at the expense of the radio industry in order to sell ads by plumping up their listener numbers.

In reality, most people only hear terrestrial radio as background noise when they shop. Stats from car manufacturers are coming in and they’re indicating that people are not turning on terrestrial radio in their cars any more. They’re using streaming services and SiriusXM. Additionally, some of those numbers in the study are fudged - there is no way to accurately get numbers on radio listeners as there is no longer a working Nielson system for terrestrial radio and no other way to track listener engagement.

I'm in my mid 50s. I've been streaming music on Pandora and Apple for about the last ten years and listening to podcasts for news and current events for about the past five years. I can't name a radio station in my city (San Diego). I don't even have an FM antenna in my truck.

Radio is dead. Soros threw his money away.

You know, Drew, you are right.

Radio in the early nineties was exciting and different...there were stations and hosts who talked about what the people were talking about.

NOW, because most of the giants of the conservative narrative are gone...it is OVER.

People want to walk around like Zombies looking down at their freakin’ phones, running their fingers at top speed to test “THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THEIR LIVES.”

RADIO IS “OVER” IT IS A DINOSOUR, IT IS AN ANACHRONISM...AN EXPERMENT THAT LASTET ALMOST THIRTY YEARS.

Now we have the PHONE. Oh, and the internet.

Back in the 1970s, the FCC had the 7-7-7 Rule. This meant that no one person or company could own more than 7 AM stations, 7 FM stations, and 7 TV stations. This was to ensure that many voices and opinions had access to media.

Reagan's deregulatory efforts changed it to 12-12-12. And then later abolished it entirely.

The Left supported 7-7-7. I once read an interview with an avowed socialist who believed it should be changed to 1. But Reagan prevailed.

I think Reagan was wrong on this. Deregulation of this (and other rules) led to the creation of ever bigger, and fewer, greater media owners.

Another example. Back in the 1970s, TV networks were forbidden from owning the shows they produced (news shows excepted). Thus, film studios and TV networks remained separate companies.

Reagan abolished that rule. After which Viacom bought CBS and Paramount, Disney bought ABC, etc.

That’s less than Trump spent on setting up Truth Social, isn’t it?
