Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s team declared his death a murder Saturday as authorities claimed his life ended because of a medical condition called “sudden death syndrome.”
Navalny, 47, died Friday in Russia’s brutal IK-3 penal colony in remote Kharp, about 1,200 miles northeast of Moscow.
“Alexey Navalny was murdered. His death occurred on February 16 at 2:17 p.m. local time, according to the official message to Alexey’s mother,” Navalny’s spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh wrote on X early Saturday.
Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service originally claimed “the convict” collapsed and died after he “felt unwell” during a walk.
“When Alexei’s lawyer and mother arrived at the colony this morning, they were told that the cause of Navalny’s death was sudden death syndrome,” Ivan Zhdanov, who directs Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, wrote Saturday on X.

Being Saturday and a messy day outside I’m covering the waterfront (internet) and found this quote among longer story:
“... On February 14, Navalny’s wife visited him in the penal colony and gave him gifts and medicines, then urgently flew to Moscow, in the morning to Istanbul and Munich…”
She then spoke to the Munich conference going on and afterwards gave Nancy Pelosi a kiss. (no kiss for Kamala)
and all of a sudden all kinds of thoughts go through my mind starting with what were the “gifts and medicine?”
Don't know how you can find the death of a Russian political dissident under these circumstances so funny..Or anyone for that matter.....

I understand Navalny’s Party was a minor party.
Putin’s party in the 2021 election garnered only 49% of the vote and lost about 4% compared to the prior election. I believe the main opposition party is the Communist Party of Russia and they would probably take over in the event of Putin’s departure - retirement or otherwise.
Yeah, he no doubt got plenty of “shots” so thank goodness he didn’t die because vic the COVID!
