Greg Abbott Throws Down Gauntlet to Joe Biden Over 'Failed' Border Control

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reasserted the state's "right to defend from invasion" and condemned the Biden administration's failed border policies.

The governor's update on Operation Lone Star, which he launched in 2021 to try to secure the Texas-Mexico border, said Texan authorities have detained 501,300 illegal immigrants under the scheme and seized 467 million "lethal doses" of fentanyl.

Tensions between Texan authorities and the Biden administration surged after the Supreme Court ruled on January 22 that federal agents can remove razor-wire placed across the Texas-Mexico border on Abbott's orders by the state's National Guard. In response, Abbott invoked what he said was Texas's "constitutional authority to defend and protect itself." This move was supported by 25 other Republican governors and 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday, Abbott said: "Under the U.S. Constitution, states have the right to defend from invasion. The cartels smuggling people & deadly fentanyl pose a danger to Texas & the U.S.

"Texas will continue to do the job Biden has failed to do—secure our southern border." Abbott accompanied this with a link to a press release published by his office, setting out what they claimed to have achieved under Operation Lone Star. Newsweek has reached out to the White House press office for comment by email.

The document says that, since the "multi-agency effort" began, Texan law enforcement has apprehended 501,300 illegal migrants and made more than 39,800 criminal arrests, leading to 35,800 felony charges. It adds that "467 million lethal doses of fentanyl" had been seized by the authorities.

Various counties even a good distance from the border are signing on, joining in with their resources. It's becoming a statewide effort all the way down to the local level.

Biden’s border control hasn’t failed, it’s doing exactly what the deep state communists want it to do.

Abbott should announce loudly and clearly that anyone who lays a finger on any property of the State of Texas will be arrested immediately and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Let Biden and Mayorkas deal with that.

We’ll probably see FJB send in the entire U.S. Marshals Service to arrest everyone involved in this “rebellion”....including Abbott.
NOTHING would be a surprise when it comes to this vile SOB.

Decades too late. American population should be about 200 million. Everything past that are immigrants.

SCOTUS made no such ruling. The Supreme Court merely voided a lower court ruling barring them from doing so.

Where he should send them by the boat load are NYC, DC, Delaware, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, Memphis, LA, San Francisco etc. Just a few thousand have sent these areas into orbit. Imagine what 500,000 would do. Holy frijoles!

All of these lame stream media articles are laced with the same prejudicial words like “claimed” instead of “said”. Constantly posturing and setting a negative tone.

That 200 million should provide decent jobs for most and make life more comfortable. Most of the rest would be dead beats anyway.

I believe Texas Rangers plan to arrest and detain any fed who participates in such a “scheme” (as MSN calls things).

Isn’t it curious that FJB hasn’t done a thing about the razor wire already in place.
