Sea levels surrounding New York City are expected to rise at least 6 to 9 inches in the 2030s and potentially up to 13 inches in some areas due to climate change, according to state projections.

The assessment done by the state Department of Environmental Conservations also claims that sea levels in the lower Hudson River could swell by 23 inches in the 2050s and up to 45 inches in the 2080s.

“Sea level rise is one of the most direct and observable effects of climate change in New York and DEC is required by law to develop science-based sea level rise projections to guide decision making and permitting in the areas most at risk,” the DEC said in a statement.

My goodness. That is alarming. We’re all doomed, I suppose.

Even if it did, would the sea levels be high enough to allow people to tie boats to Pevensey Castle in the UK like they did in the Medieval Warm Period? (Hint: the shore level is a mile away from the castle now. And the castle didn't move -- the shoreline did.)

Will the ancient city of Ephesus go back to being a port city? (Hint: it was when Paul wrote his famous letter Ephesians during the Roman Warm Period, but it's miles away form the shoreline now.)

As Rush used to say, the left tries to pretend that history began in our generation. But the historical record alone on sea levels backs up this ice core study.

In what way, exactly, would it be bad if NYC were completely flooded out?

So what happens in, say Florida?

Does Miami lose 13” to make up for the excess at NYC?

Or is sea level, I dunno, LEVEL?

“State study?”

No kidding. The state probably hired a sole-source cousin of the governor for $1 million with the scope of work stating: “Write a study showing a 50 inch increase in sea level caused by climate change.”

LOL...did you notice the "Roman Climate OPTIMUM"? Shouldn't we want to get back to those optimal conditions?

Yes, the sea levels around NY could rise by 13 inches in the 2030’s, equally true, a space alien could rampage and gobble up Manhattan by the 2030’s. More likely, however, New York will be completely destroyed by Democrats, drug addicts, gang bangerd, and illegal immigrants long before then.

I grew up in North Dakota's Red River Valley.

It was not an uncommon occurrence for the rivers to rise 13 inches during the spring runoff and snow melt season in six hours, rather than six years.

When that happened and we deemed there was a danger of the river overflowing, we organized sandbag crews or even bulldozers to build up the dikes and deal with it.

It is not an uncommon sight to even see entire farmsteads or towns surrounded by a dirt dike in places where the problem is chronic.

We didn't go around squawking about climate change and demanding that people run their lives according to our proposed solutions. What, do you suppose, was wrong with us?
