A director of a Detroit housing nonprofit geared toward helping homeowners at risk of foreclosure was federally charged for her role in a fraud scheme designed to steal dozens of homes from low-income residents – and she lives in one of the stolen properties, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

Before Zina Thomas, 60, was arrested on Feb. 28 and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and aggravated identity theft, she was the director of Homeownership Programs for the United Community Housing Coalition in Detroit, joining the organization in 2021.

“This scheme targeted some of our most financially vulnerable citizens and was perpetrated by an individual whose job it was to help those very people avoid losing their homes to foreclosure,” U.S. Attorney Ison said in a statement.

So many various government programs are easily vulnerable to fraud, and as a result one may argue that government is in part the enabler of so much fraud, as the public debt rises like a flood of red ink.

We are spending a fortune on these affirmative action incompetent lefties..and they all are. I have to try to deal with them after the catastrophic wildfire. They just collect a big check and NEVER DO ANYTHING TO HELP.THEY usually make it worse. The last one had her preferred pronouns proudly listed.

I applied for a mobile home and got approved to buy one through the NGO I was trying to work with called ACCESS. They ordered hundreds of them built in Idaho that wouldn’t pass Oregon requirements. That wasted a year.All that money wasted!
I won’t be shocked if I get a bill for that MH!

There's at least 1 police department here in Utah that does the same with impounded cars. My dumba** drunk brother had 2 vehicles impounded within a 2 month period, due to DUIs. Before we could get to the lot to pay the fees, they had been sold. No, we weren't giving them back to him. One brother wanted the old vintage truck & the other truck my elderly father had just given to dumba**.
