The Big Apple has gotten smaller again.

Nearly 78,000 residents fled New York City last year, shrinking its population down to 8.26 million people, according to the latest census estimates released on Thursday and first reported by the New York Times.

In 2022, more than 126,000 New Yorkers moved out of the city.

Between April 2020 and July 2023, which coincided with the height of the COVID pandemic, the city experienced a mass exodus of 550,000 residents, shrinking its population by more than 6%.

Yes the newcomer illegal aliens will have places to live since so many people are moving away from New York.

Will the city commandeer these newly vacant apartments for illegals? Stay tuned.

Of that 78K how many were high earners? These high earners effectively finance the NYC city government. I don’t remember the raw number now but its surprisingly small given the city’s population size. Truly a situation where you have a single emaciated horse pulling several full wagonloads of freeloaders.

Not a problem. Biden can ship in five times that many Haitians by mid-summer.

Correct, ONE CEO living in a penthouse on Park Ave pays more taxes to NYC than a 1000 residents at the poorer end of the scale.

I’m leaving at the end of the month. Already have my one way ticket. Been working at the same place for 23 years and my salary had steadily climbed to $250k/yr. The company has been shrinking the workforce through attrition so that’s a bit of tax revenue leaving with me.

I used to love this city and could just about take all the new hassles that were introduced each year (like what bike lanes and “open streets” where they closed streets off to cars did to traffic, reducing speed limits and installing ticket cameras, etc), but the crap they pulled with Covid was the last straw. Made my exit strategy and will escape in 17 days.

So, how many Congress Critters SHOULD NYC lose after the next census?

Which, is the reason why they keep bringing in the illegals. So, they can count them and not lose Reps.

It would be hilarious if someone like AOC got booted out because her district changed.

Bloomberg once stated that the richest 40,000 residents Paid 50% of the taxes in NYC.

“ Replaced by illegals...”

DC reversed its population decline. It’s got 6000 more people this year.

Due to “migrants”, it says at the end of the report….

I’ll be traveling for a bit, until my funds become alarming and I require a job. And then I’ll likely relocate to the gulf coast area. Not sure yet. At least a red state.

The good news is that once all the Haitians have immigrated to the USA (welcomed by the Democrats with open arms) the need to send foreign aid to Haiti will disappear!
