Taiwan has confirmed there are U.S. troops stationed on its islands in the Taiwan Strait on a permanent basis, including an island just over a mile off China's southeast coast.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in 2023 paved the way for their arrival to conduct training programs for troops on Taiwan's front line.
China has vowed to someday annex democratic Taiwan, which it regards as a rogue province, despite the fact that the Chinese Communist Party government in Beijing has never ruled there. China has sharply increased military sorties and drills in and around the 90-mile-wide Taiwan Strait, prompting its neighbor to boost investment in defense.
Asked to confirm reports U.S. Army Green Special Forces, also known as Green Berets, were in Taiwan on a permanent basis, Taiwanese defense chief Chiu Kuo-cheng told reporters on March 14: "No matter the situation, there may be blind spots or shortcomings. So we need to communicate with our allies—whether it is a team, a group or a country."

U.S. Army Green Berets from the 1st Special Forces Group are now permanently stationed at a pair of bases of the 101st Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion, a Taiwanese army special operations force, according to Taiwan's United Daily News (UDN).
These instructors were sent to the outlying island counties of Penghu and Kinmen. At its closest point, Kinmen is just barely over a mile from Chinese shores.

What would be the choice: Defend Taiwan (give up Chinese products and Tik-Tok, etc. that fund China) or Surrender Taiwan (to keep Tik-Tok and an uninterrupted supply of cheap Chinese products)?

Biden could give a Schiff if there are American troops on Taiwan if China invades. Look at his disregard for the troops killed at the Kabul gates when he surrendered in Afghanistan, or the American hostages currently being held by Hamas. Heck, he’s building a pier in order to feed Hamas. He’s even using a Hamas-linked contractor to BUILD THE PIER!
If only we had followed George Washington about staying out of foreign entanglements.
Ukraine, Taiwan and others are not worth all of us dying in a nuclear and EMP war.
Kinmen is obviously not defensible, but Taiwan itself absolutely is.

I think most Americans would be surprised to find out that Kinmen County is Taiwanese, but just 3 miles off the mainland Chinese coast. You’ll note Google Maps goes out of it’s way to not identify it or any township as Taiwanese. 3 miles west is clearly labeled as China at every location.

Russia and China are both suffering demographic collapse so it will be very difficult for them to hold on to what they got let alone expand.
The Chinese are extremely racist and would not want to takeover countries with non-Han people in them like the Philippines, Vietnam, etc. They would just make them a part of their economic sphere, just like the US has included Canada and Mexico into our economic sphere.
If we can prevent a massive nuclear war over the next ten to twenty years, then I think we'll be safe for quite a while as the world becomes divided into three or four economic regions that fight using tariffs and import/export regulations rather than bombs and bullets.
