18 months ago, I landed at the greatest place for my "last rodeo." It's a great working environment, and I've found our Gen Z's to be great coworkers.

I learned a lot about the CEO my first week on the job, when I saw him making coffee. I'm big on qualitative stuff like that.

It's a unique environment: all but two of our senior officers live in Texas. My supervisor lives in Florida and flies in every other week. I work from home two days a week, a blessing as the commute to downtown Dallas gets worse every week.

Most people under 40 subscribe to the kenyan’s fundamental transformation and activism at all times mentality. No surprise they can’t function in the working world.

Yet many companies discriminated against me for being over 50.

Same here!

It’s called life. Somehow people got the idea in their heads that they could have everything in life without working for it. Well, someone had to build the material things we use, like houses and transportation. Someone has to grow food to feed us. How does that get done? By work! Grueling hard work.

So yeah, you work those 40+ hour weeks, live frugally, and build your skills while you are feeding yourself and hopefully your family. You don’t buy $7 cups of coffee every day, don’t eat takeout or use DoorDash, and you drive a used vehicle that you do most maintenance on yourself. You put aside 10-15% for the future, so you have something left over for emergencies and someday retirement.

Over time, you gain promotions as you work your way up. You raise your children and pay off your mortgage. You stay true to your spouse and avoid divorce. Eventually, you both retire and get to enjoy your golden years.

Bottom line: life is work.

"And Boomers, you were not wet behind the ears and stupid and arrogant at work when you were young?”

Seven months out of college, I was an Army ADA 2nd LT in charge of a Chaparral missile platoon. Three months later, they added the other Chaparral platoon to my plate.

Fortunately, both of my platoon sergeants did at least one tour in Nam. I grew up fast, there was no other choice.

However, I became a real PITA after a year on the job. I wasn't arrogant, just supremely confident in guiding my platoons. I welcomed it, it was "showtime".

Plenty of stories, I know they're interesting only to me.

Frustrating, to put it mildly

I think most walmart employees are pushing around those big carts, gathering the groceries for those too lazy to do their own shopping.

What a soul crushing job that must be.

One of heaven's innumerable blessings for those who arrive there will be that the other residents will find our stories to be endlessly fascinating and will insist on hearing them in detail, especially those which reveal how God was acting on our behalf.

"Gen Z is one of the most informed, confident and no BS generation because they saw what happened to the millennials before them," Space told Newsweek.

"Being told to go to college to get a great job..."

Less likely to scam Gen Z. Plus boys from Gen Z are sick and tired of feminism. The greatest insult from Gen Z is being called a "simp".

This article is making the case that Gen Z is "toxic" because they refuse to be corporate drones or automatically accept whatever HR says is in their interests. They are "toxic" because if they are forced into some idiotic DEI program that targets them as the bad guy they'll just quite and go work somewhere they are valued.

I find that a welcome development.

That's my take. Ultimately, they'll be less likely to agree with the crap coming from the Biden Administration. Or at least the boys, anyway.

I scanned the article and did not see an important fact...

At least 50% of Gen Z is non-white.

IQ, and growing up with a family work ethic, are indispensable factors for successful adults.

This is true. I don't know the exact numbers but Gen Z is the least white generation there's ever been in America. And the white generation that follows them (my four children) will be an even greater minority still.

They're all lumped together as if their experiences and attitudes are monolithic but they're not.

Sorry, that is delusional.

Gen Z is at least 50% non-white.

Non-white young Americans vote 75%-80% Democrat.

Florida is 51.1% Non-Hispanic White according to 2021 census. How did Trump win? Texas is 39.3% non-Hispanic white. How did Trump win?

Generation Z is unemployable.

...and since we can't simply ignore an entire generation, the nation is doomed. Seriously, when most of the next generation has been raised to be neurotic, lazy, more concerned with feelings than with hard work or achievement - what exactly is the future of America?

As a general rule, yep. There are a minority group of exceptions who received proper schooling and upbringing. Not the large majority though.

Me: You’re having problems with Gen Z? Well, I could use some extra work.
Hiring manager: Yer too old.
Me: Well . . . bye!

Good luck with that. Thanks to Joetato, the Dumb-O-Crats and the GOPee, the younguns will have to settle with eschewing restaurants and Starbucks while working on their own cars.
