Gen Z Is Toxic for Companies, Employers Believe
Newsweek ^ | 03/23/2024 | Suzanne Blake

Posted on 03/23/2024 6:42:17 PM PDT by Drew68

Companies are struggling to operate as Gen Z enters the workforce at higher rates, and a growing majority of employers say the younger generation is toxic for their business.

That's the latest from a new Freedom Economy Index report conducted by PublicSquare and RedBalloon this month. In the survey, 68 percent of small business owners said Gen Zers were the "least reliable" of all their employees. And 71 percent said these younger workers were the most likely to have a workplace mental health issue.

One of the surveyed employers spoke of Gen Z's "absolute delusion, complete lack of common sense, and zero critical reasoning or basic analytical skills."

The criticism for Gen Z workers was in full force, as less than 4 percent said Gen Z was the generation that most aligns with their workplace culture, and 62 percent said Gen Z was the most likely to create division and toxicity in the workplace.

Another employer noted the generation's tendency for "expecting promotions for simply showing up every day."

The toxicity could even lead to company lawsuits, as 57 percent said Gen Z run the most risk of creating a workplace lawsuit.

Dan Space, an HR consultant who runs DanFromHR.com, said since the study reflects the feelings of small business owners, it could be skewed. These types of businesses often do not pay well or offer a high-quality company culture, he said, and Gen Z tends to look for those in any type of role or career they take on, he said.

"Gen Z is one of the most informed, confident and no BS generation because they saw what happened to the millennials before them," Space told Newsweek.

"Being told to go to college to get a great job..."

(One of the surveyed employers spoke of Gen Z’s “absolute delusion, complete lack of common sense, and zero critical reasoning or basic analytical skills.”)

Yet many companies discriminated against me for being over 50.

Idiots.

Just going to point out real quick- it's an objective reality that Gen Z has serious issues.

But it's the marxist @$$holes of the Boomer, Gen X, and Millenial generations that made them that way.

People, we're seeing the consequences of the Lefty takeover of the education system. Yeah, Gen Z sucks, but they were taught to be that way...

We MUST take back control of our educational institutions from the Left.

If we don't, the future is lost.

Wait till their tattoo ink screws up their lymph nodes, they’ll be worse than unemployable. They’ll demand disability compensation.

This. Ultimately, they were raised this way.

Locking down cities and the world and being forced or coerced into taking a vax to work kills the mood to work for some company that doesn't care about you. You're just a number to be replaced by a invader from another country or have AI do your job better.

Just read this. Sounded just like critiques I read about the Millenials 10-15 years ago. Also, descriptions of Gen-X initially sounded similar too.

Like ever generation, they will mature and be gradually ground down by the workplace routine.

It used to be older workers had problems getting jobs.
Now, they are in huge demand.
People after 50ty still know how to work hard. The younger people are, the less work they do, and more perks they demand.
Down until Generation Z, who just do nothing, but demand all kind of vacations, benefits, on job exercise rooms, showers, food, etc.

One of my Z kids lost his job when the employer went bankrupt. His boss called a friend and said β€œ hire this kid. He’s the best worker I ever had.” His interview was basically β€œ when can you start.”

He’s homeschooled and a trucker.

My others are just as motivated.

Yep. Once people in my field found out I am retiring, I’ve gotten offers just because they know I’ll show up, can write and don’t have to have a phone surgically attached to my hand. Don’t even have to work hard, either. My financial advisor doesn’t like it though. He wants me to stop working totally and enjoy my IRA and whatever SS payments I get. It’s all about time and health.

I had to hire for 2 technologists in our small company.

1-Any resume with pronouns I discarded without looking at

2- Also anyone from East Coast or Chicago I put at bottom of pile had no one from California wanting to come to small town Wisconsin

3-One showed up for interview with blue tinted hair...NEXT

4- looked at social media FB/instagram/twitter of others who interviewed- any social justice- black circle NEXT

Very happy to report the 2 kids hired are smart, motivated, and hard workers.

Probably true.

While not the context of this thread, it does make one wonder about our society. You know. Two household families where two parents work and some even have kids.

Of course, I'm talking about most people who visit FR (play by the rules) -- except the bots. That is those who buy into work ethic and stuff.

In today's environment, you really are a slave! You work 8 to 10 hours a day (if you want to get ahead or survive), you sleep 8 hours a day (hopefully), and you recover and then you start all over again for the next shift/day at the office. Repeat and rinse, Repeat and rinse, Repeat and rinse and on and on.

After all, maybe slaves had it better.
